Foreman-Lyle Fight 1976 Many boxing fans consider the 1976 heavyweight fight between George Foreman and Ron Lyle as the most exciting boxing match ever shown on television. I've been following boxing for more than 40 years and it's hard to think of a wilder bout! This was a crossroads fight for both men. Foreman hadn't fought since losing the world heavyweight title to Muhammad Ali in Zaire in October 1974. Lyle had lost to Ali in May 1975. A loss would be a major setback to either man's quest to get another crack at Ali. The fight lasted five rounds, but this video condenses the topsy-turvy events to about six minutes. Howard Cosell and Ken Norton describe the brawl.

1952 Corn Pops Commercial The two stars of The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok, Guy Madison and Andy Devine, promote Kellogg's Corn Pops in this 1952 commercial. The syndicated western ran from 1951 though 1958. More than a dozen feature films were made by combining various TV episodes. Bit of trivia: Andy Devine's very recognizable gravelly voice was the result of an odd childhood accident. He damaged his vocal chords when he fell while he had a stick in his mouth! Although he has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Guy Madison, who died in 1996 at age 74, is largely forgotten in North America. He had greater success in Italy where he stared in low-budget westerns and combat films in the 1960s.

Holy Roller Play 1978 Raiders-Chargers One of the wildest finishes in NFL history occurred in Week #2 of the 1978 season. The Oakland Raiders defeated the San Diego Chargers 21-20 on a dubious touchdown on the last play of the game. Despite two obvious intentional forward fumbles, the play was legal under 1978 NFL rules. After the season the rules were changed to prevent the offensive team from advancing the ball on a fourth-down fumble. This clip shows NBC's coverage of the final drive that led to the infamous "Holy Roller." Jim Simpson calls the play.
