Clara Bow montage Clara Bow, the It Girl, was the biggest silent movie starlet in the world in 1927 and 1928. (I believe she still holds the world record for most fan mail received by anyone in a month.) She was a natural beauty whose perkiness jumped off the screen. Her career petered out when talkies came in. Many people wrongly assume her voice didn't suit talkies well. Actually her voice wasn't unpleasant at all. However, she was uncomfortable with the new medium of talking films and just slowly faded into obscurity. I think this montage is captivating.

Alan Young and Daughter i'm sure u remember "MR. ED". . The stars of the show were Mister Ed, an intelligent talking palomino American Saddlebred ("played" by gelding Bamboo Harvester), and his owner, architect Wilbur Post (played by Alan Young). Much of the program's humor stemmed from the fact Mister Ed would speak only to Wilbur. According to the show's producer, Arthur Lubin, the shows producer, Young was chosen because "he seemed like a guy a horse would talk to." . . . this fact REALLY makes me happy!!!

Louie Anderson at The 9th Annual Young Comedians Special 1984 Rodney Dangerfield Hosts the 9th Annual Young Comedians Special. Taped at his nightclub in New York City, Dangerfield performed and acted as host while he introduced several young comedians who were given the opportunity to perform. Louie Anderson was one of eleven children and was raised on the east side of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He feels that his first audience was his family and many of his early experiences are the cornerstone of his comedy act. He will have you in stitches talking about his dad. His material involves his relationship with his mother and father, and many life experiences. In 1999, Louie landed the role as host of the new version of Family Feud. He beat out popular country singer Dolly Parton for the role. Anderson asked former Feud host Richard Dawson to come on the premiere show to give him his blessing, but Dawson declined.

Greta Garbo and John Gilbert Greta Garbo and John Gilbert, the queen and king of silent romantic movies, in "Flesh and Devil," 1927. She reigned in the talkies as well, but he became one of the casualties of sound, not so much because his voice was thin, but because talking-picture audiences no longer wanted romantic heroes, preferring tough guys. . .
