Who shot J.R.? was a mass media-manufactured open question in 1980. In the CBS television series Dallas, the character of J.R. Ewing, played by Larry Hagman, was shot by an unknown assailant in the final scene of its 1979-1980 season, which aired on March 21, 1980 and was entitled A House Divided.
Viewers had to wait all summer, and most of the fall due to a Hollywood actors' strike, to learn whether J.R. would survive, and which of his many enemies was responsible. Security was tightened at the Lorimar studios where Dallas was filmed.
During the summer of 1980, the question "Who shot J.R.?" was asked in everyday conversations across America and worldwide. T-shirts printed with such references as "Who Shot J.R.?" and "I Shot J.R.!" became common over the summer. Betting parlors worldwide took in massive amounts of money. People were placing bets as to which one of the 10 or so principal characters had actually pulled the trigger that shot J.R. A session of the Turkish parliament was suspended to allow legislators a chance to get home in time to view the Dallas episode.
Ultimately, the person who pulled the trigger was revealed to be the character of Kristin Shepard (played by Mary Crosby) in the "Who Done It?" episode which aired on November 21, 1980. Kristin was J.R.'s scheming sister-in-law and mistress, who shot him in a fit of anger.

Spin off series from the 1965 movie Clarence the Cross eyed Lion. 1966 through 1969. The show was about protecting the animals.
Starring: Marshall Thompson, Cheryl Miller, Hari Rhodes, Yale Summers, Hedley Mattington,Don Marshal, Jan Clayton, AND Erin Moran ( yes Joanie Cunningham from Happy Day's). I guess I shouldn't leave out Judy the Chimp or Clarence.

In 1970, due to the success of the Brady's ABC Friday night companion show The Partridge Family, (about a musical family) some episodes began to feature the Brady Kids as a singing group. Though only a handful of shows (Doe-Ri-Me in the third season, Amateur Nite in the fourth and The New Johnny Bravo in the fifth were the only episodes to feature the Brady Bunch children singing) actually featured them singing and performing, the Brady Bunch began to produce albums. Though they never charted as high as the Partridge Family, they began touring the USA during the summer hiatus from the show, headlining as The Kids from the Brady Bunch. Although only Barry Williams and Maureen McCormick stayed in the music business as adults, Christopher Knight readily admits he felt he could not sing and recalls having great anxiety about performing live on stage with the cast.

This brings back memories of high school, especially summer days in the 60's, going down the highway, with no responsibilities, just headin to the beach. And those muscle cars were so awesome, even now, if you're lucky enough to have one.

My Little Margie was a situation comedy that alternated between CBS and NBC from 1952 to 1955. It premiered on CBS as the summer replacement for I Love Lucy on June 16, 1952...
Set in New York City, the series starred Gale Storm as 21-year-old Margie Albright and former silent film star Charles Farrell as her widowed father, 50-year-old Vern Albright. Both shared the same apartment at the Carlton Arms Hotel.

Salvatore Sonny Bono started out in Los Angeles at Specialty Records as a songwriter in the late 1950s.
In 1963, while working on sessions with Phil Spector, he met a 16 year old, would be singer named Cherilyn Sarkasian Lapierre at a coffee shop next to a Los Angeles radio station. She had previously recorded Ringo, I Love You, produced by Phil Spector, under the name Bonnie Jo Mason. Although Sonny was married to Donna Rankin, with whom he had a daughter, his interest in Cher grew until he eventually ended his marriage. Sonny and Cher were later married and although she was reluctant, the pair formed a professional duo, initially known as Caesar and Cleo. For a time, from 1965 until 1967, they were rock and roll's hottest couple, so much so that in some conservative communities they were considered almost morally subversive. Parents locked up their kids when Sonny and Cher were passing through for a concert appearance. Then, as quickly as they started, the hits stopped coming. Later, they ended up with a summer replacement try-out show that did so well that Sonny and Cher were given a regular spot in the CBS lineup in January 1972, with a comedy-variety series. Their recording career was revived initially by a live album, cut in one night in Las Vegas, featuring new versions of their early hits as well as parts of their current repertory. The album went gold. The next couple of singles by Cher, and Sonny and Cher failed, but producer Snuff Garrett, who had been at Liberty when Cher was there, but had never worked with her, was brought in, and the result was Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, a number one hit that revived their career. After that, The Way of Love, All I Ever Need Is You, A Cowboy's Work Is Never Done, Half Breed, and Dark Lady kept either Cher or the couple in the Top Ten at various times through 1974. By then, however, their marriage had fallen apart, and with it, the success of their TV show.

I went to Hawaii this summer in July and we made it a point to stop at The U.S.S. Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. I took this picture from atop the memorial. The memorial sits atop the sunken vessel. 1177 sailors are entombed in the sunken vessel. You have to take a short boat ride over to the Memorial and not one person spoke a word while on the memorial, even children were silent. It was a powerful moment for me and I choked up with tears. The Arizona went down with tons of oil and it still seeps up to the top today. May those who perished on that fateful day on December 7, 1941 rest in peace!
