Always ranked among the greatest Hollywood movies ever made is Orson Welles' masterpiece Citizen Kane (1941). In the movie's final scene we learn what Charles Foster Kane's last word ('Rosebud') referred to. This clip has a bit of Italian dialogue dubbed into it. Pay no attention to it; it is unimportant.

Dean Martin was one of America's greatest legends in the entertainment industry. He is sorely missed even to this day. He honors or roasts his beloved friend and American icon, Frank Sinatra, in one of his many roasts. In my opinion, even the half-hour infomercial is far more entertaining than anything on television today. I miss people like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and so many others. There are more people who are gone than living with us like Don Rickles, Peter Falk, and Ruth Buzzi. Frank Sinatra's roast is pretty relaxed from what we know. We're glad to see celebrities cut loose and be themselves and poke fun at this man. Nobody will ever have the roasts that Dean ever put together in Las Vegas. Of course, people were smoking cigarettes (God forbid that you display any smoking on television anymore) and drinking liquor and being human anymore. Those days are gone forever and now you have a bit of history with these episodes. Even though they drank and smoked, they always appeared to be having fun at themselves.

In my opinion, one of the top series of this genre ever produced for television, the original TZ aired from 1959 to 1964. Rod Serling invited viewers to submit a script. He was flooded with over 14,000, and actually got around to reading 500 of them, but only two were any good, and he couldn't use them because they didn't fit with the format of the show. CBS originally wanted Orson Welles as the narrator/host, but the producers felt that he asked for too much money. I just can't imagine anyone but Rod Serling narrating this series, it was his baby from the start. He made up the phrase 'Fifth Dimension' to use in one season's opening narration, stating that he wanted to go one beyond the four known dimensions. A reporter once asked him what the fourth dimension was, (given the first three are length, width, and height). Serling supposedly answered, 'I don't know. Aren't there four?' Hey, if he thought so, that would have been good enough for me!

Another of the old guard passes. Eartha Kitt an American actress, singer, and cabaret star. She was perhaps best known for her role as Catwoman in the 1960s TV series Batman, and for her 1953 Christmas song "Santa Baby". Orson Welles once called her "the most exciting woman in the world".

Everyone seems to remember these animated characters. The Way-Outs were a British pop group that appeared on just a single 1965 episode of The Flintstones called 'The Masquerade Party.' It was a clever episode that parodied the Orson Welles 1938 War Of The Worlds radio broadcast that caused people to think Martians had invaded the Earth. Everybody sing: 'We're going way out. Way out! That's where the fun is. Way out! Way out! That's where the sun is! Way out!'
