Remembering Dixie Carter Who Passed Today Designing Women actress Dixie Carter, who used her charm and stately beauty in a host of roles on Broadway and television, died Saturday. She was 70. Publicist Steve Rohr, who represents Carter and her husband, actor Hal Holbrook, said Carter died Saturday morning. He would not disclose where she died or the cause of death.

Announcer for The Lone Ranger Passes At Age 89 Fred Foy, a radio and television announcer best known for conjuring up "those thrilling days of yesteryear" in the late 1940s and '50s as the announcer-narrator of "The Lone Ranger" on radio and television, has died. He was 89. Foy died Wednesday morning of age-related causes at his home in Woburn, Mass., said his daughter, Nancy Foy. During a broadcasting career that began in Detroit in 1940, Foy spent more than 20 years as a staff announcer for ABC television and radio before retiring in the mid-1980s.

Gerry Rafferty Passes Today at the age of 63 Gerry Rafferty, best known for performing the 1970s hits "Baker Street" and "Stuck in the Middle With You," has died at the age of 63 after Battling an "undisclosed illness", The Guardian reports. Rafferty's family confirmed that he died peacefully at home this morning. In November 2010, Rafferty was admitted to a hospital in Bournemouth, Dorset, suffering from liver failure. His family was told that there was little chance of his survival, although after he was taken off life support, his condition began to improve. Rafferty died on 4 January 2011.
