First Hispanic US Supreme Court Judge NOT Sotomayor Benjamin Nathan Cardozo May 24, 1870–July 9, 1938 Cardozo family tradition held that their ancestors were Marranos from Portugal. "Cardoso", "Seixas" and "Mendes" are common Portuguese surnames. Certain Hispanic organizations do not consider those of Portuguese descent to be Hispanic. Both the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials and the Hispanic National Bar Association believe that Sonia Sotomayor, if confirmed, will be the first Hispanic justice.

DAVID Carradine Dead at 72 From the BNO Newsroom. BANGKOK, Thailand (BNO NEWS) -- "Kung Fu" and "Kill Bill" star David Carradine was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok on Thursday, a U.S. State Department official told BNO News. He was 72-years-old. Carradine had been in Bangkok since Tuesday to shoot an upcoming movie. A U.S. State Department official said that Thai officials had notified the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok that Carradine had died but further details were not immediately released out of consideration for his family. Thai police officials, however, say that Carradine did not show up when he and his film crew were supposed to dine at a restaurant in the Thai capital on Wednesday, but they assumed he took a break because of his age. On Thursday, at around 10 a.m. local time, a hotel maid opened his suite and found the star hanging in a closet. According to a newspaper report, he was described as being half naked. There were no signs of a struggle. His agent confirmed to KABC-TV that Carradine had died, but said he believed the star died of natural causes.

South of Sunset - Forgotten Detective Show South of Sunset was a CBS detective show that lasted just one episode. Despite being heavily promoted by the network during its 1993 World Series coverage, South of Sunset was axed after its pilot aired on October 27, 1993. Some west coast affiliates never aired the show, preferring to stick with news coverage of the Malibu wildfires. South of Sunset drew an anemic 6.1 rating, believed to be the worst showing ever for a major network show's fall premiere. The detective show stared rocker Glen Frey as Los Angeles private eye Cody McMahon who partnered with and ex-thief named Ziggy Duane. Here's the opening of the only episode that ever aired on CBS.

Henry Cooper Decks Cassius Clay The most critical moment in the boxing career of Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) occurred in this June 18, 1963 fight at London's Wembley stadium versus lightly regarded British champion Henry Cooper. A Clay victory would pretty much assure him of a title fight versus Sonny Liston. But wait! Watch Clay get decked by a Cooper left hook at the end of round four. Round five was delayed slightly when a tear in one of Clay's gloves was brought to the attention of referee Tommy Little. Some people believe the extra few seconds between rounds--and it was only a slight delay despite the persistent myth that claims round five was delayed anywhere from three to ten minutes--allowed the dazed Clay precious extra time to recover his senses.

Last Canadian WWI Soldier Turns 109 John Babcock, believed to be Canada's last surviving First World War veteran, turned 109 years old today. Since 1924 he has been living in Spokane, WA. Because there were no dual citizenship laws at the time, when Babcock obtained American citizenship, he had to forfeit his Canadian citizenship. After Canada's prime minister Stephen Harper learned about this, Mr. Babcock had his Canadian citizenship restored in a special ceremony in 2008. Babcock is pictured here with his 80-year-old wife. (Cradle robber!)

Rock n Rollen Rollen Frederick Stewart, also known as Rock 'n' Rollen and Rainbow Man, was a fixture in American sports culture for about a decade. He became famous for wearing a rainbow-colored afro-style wig and, later, for holding up signs reading "John 3:16" at sporting events around the United States and overseas in the 1970s and 1980s. Stewart, a born-again Christian, was determined to "get the message out" via television. He figured televised sporting events provided the best opportunities. Stewart would strategically position himself for key shots of plays or athletes. Stewart's first major appearance was at the 1977 NBA Finals where he seemed to constantly be on camera. By the time of the 1979 MLB All-Star Game, broadcasters were actively trying to avoid showing him. Undaunted, Stewart appeared behind NFL goalposts, near Olympic medal stands, and even at the Augusta National Golf Club. At the 1982 Indianapolis 500, he was behind the pits of race winner Gordon Johncock. Stewart's fame led to a Budweiser beer commercial and a Saturday Night Live parody sketch. Stewart was briefly jailed by Moscow police at the 1980 Summer Olympics for wearing a red, white, and blue afro wig. By the mid-1980s Stewart's began exhibiting irrational behavior. In the late 1980s, he began a string of stink bomb attacks. His targets included the Orange County Register, the Trinity Broadcasting Network, and a Christian bookstore. The stated intent of an attempted attack at the American Music Awards was to show the public that "God thinks this stinks." Stewart is currently serving three consecutive life sentences for a orchestrating a hostage-taking and attempted kidnapping at a California hotel in 1992. Reportedly, Stewart believed that the Rapture was due to arrive in six days. During the standoff, he threatened to shoot at airplanes taking off from nearby Los Angeles International Airport and covered his hotel room windows with "John 3:16" placards. His next parole hearing is in 2017.

Vintage Clock Radio Here is a CHANNEL MASTER clock radio that sat on the mantel of my mom's house for many years. I do believe it is from the 1960's. To operate it required 4 'D' size batteries for the radio and 1 of the same for the clock part. I recently learned that SHARP made a radio identical to this one so with that said, I have no clue as to what the story on this particular radio is.
