1931 Bela Lugosi Movie Poster Lugosi, the youngest of four children, was born Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó' in Lugos, Hungary on October 20, 1882. On arrival in America, the 6-feet-1 inch, 180 lb. Lugosi worked for some time as a laborer, then returned to the theater within the Hungarian-American community. He was approached to star in a play adapted by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston from Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. The Horace Liveright production was successful. Despite his excellent notices in the title role, and appearances in some American silent films, Lugosi had to campaign vigorously for the chance to repeat his stage success in Tod Browning's movie version of Dracula (1931), produced by Universal Pictures.

BEETLEJUICE Made in 1988, and directed by Tim Burton, it starred Alec Baldwin, Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Jeffrey Jones, Glenn Shadix and Catherine O'Hara. The title role was played with relish by Michael Keaton, who had the most fun with a male role since Jack Nicholson's devil in "The Witches of Eastwick.

Paul McCartney Death Story Remember this balderdash? The strange claim first appeared in Drake University's student newspaper in September 1969. It gathered momentum a month later when Russ Gibb, a Detroit-area deejay, broadcast that Paul McCartney had died in a November 1966 car mishap and had been secretly replaced in the Beatles by the winner of a lookalike contest. The supposed clues to Paul's untimely death could be found by playing Beatles' records backwards, by looking at imagery on album covers, and by examining various song lyrics. Yeah, right.

Once Upon a Time in America Once we were proud nation.. there was nothing we couldn't do, or accomplish. There was noting that we couldn't manufacture for ourselves. This was the American Spirit. It was what made this country the envy of every nation in the world. Now, as one TV commentator put it, "We have become suicidally arrogant ... we have the attitude that there isn't anything anyone won't sell us." It has been argued that "America holds no resemblance to the once great nation for which our forebears fought and died. Given the rapidity with which America has forsaken its heritage, can you imagine what it will look like 50 years from now?" - Chuck Baldwin Once can only wonder. But, Once Upon A Time In America, it was truly a great and promising place to be. The Eagle and the Hawk I vividly remember going to see John Denver at Saratoga Performing Arts Center when I was about 5 or 6 years old and hearing this song. There was a big screen in back of John with eagles and hawks flying. I was totally enthralled by it. I believe my love of the eagle, and the hawk, come from this moment in my life. (That and when I viewed my first bald eagle soaring over our school when I was in first grade). There's something magical about them. Their grace, beauty and power never cease to captivate me. This compilation is from various concerts from the 70s and 80s.

Featured Member- LProud aka Lori Proudman-Brown Hi to my friends at YRT! My name is Lori and I was born in upstate NY in June of 1968. I was adopted at 6 months of age and grew up on a dairy farm about an hour southwest of Albany. I love all animals so this was the perfect place for me. My parents worked hard to give me an ideal childhood and succeeded. I would often sneak out of the house as a young child to go visit my "friends" in the barn. I love to read my paternal Grandma's diaries... "Lori was up first thing this morning with toys in one hand and a cat in the other." (1972) I think it was my childhood and the wonderful & comforting memories of it that make YRT such a favorite of mine. I have 3 children, Brianna - age 19, Devon - age 16 & Kayleigh - age 11. I wish they could have grown up when I did. It seems it is more difficult for kids now. There's so much negative stuff for them out there. As much as I love the internet (making new friends, traveling to far off places without leaving home, etc) I think I had a better childhood because of not having it as part of my life. I originally went to college for journalism and dropped out because it wasn't for me. I am not one who is able to always be objective and I don't like the way you have to invade other people's privacy for the sake of a story. I went back to school in for Community/Human Services and now I work as Medicaid eligibility examiner at the Department of Social Services. I like bird watching (raptors) & before I was working full-time I would volunteer with DEC to monitor bald eagles so they could time when to band the eaglets in the Spring. I would accompany them for the local bandings which was always a thrill for me. My other hobby is weather, a real "weather-weenie" as my friends like to call me. I'm a meteorologist-wannabe who was to frightened of physics and math to pursue it as a career. I like to bowl, go fishing and am a pop-culture junkie. I have been told I have a wealth of useless information and take it as a total compliment. I stumbled upon YRT from doing a search for 70s pop culture sites and have been visiting here daily ever since. I love the way a post will prompt my memory of something else and it goes on and on. The people on this site are very welcoming and it feels like "home" on the net. Thank you Steve for the wonderful site and to all of you who help me "go back in time" every day.
