here's a little trivia for you! the original name was going to be "Pretzel," but they dropped that when a toy dog came out with the same name! They were also going to use dice, but put the big spinner in at the last moment . . also, Johnny Carson featured the game on the May 3, 1966 episode of the Tonight Show and one of the guests was Eva Gabor in a low cut dress!!

the TV series Worzel Gummidge, started in 1979,he is a scarecrow, and his love Aunt Sally, a life-size wooden fairground doll, both of whom can walk and talk and pass themselves off as human. The only people in on their secret are a couple of children, John and Susan.
The Crowman, who created Worzel, also provided him with a set of different heads for different tasks: a thinking head, a brave head, a counting head and a clever head.

. . .and, i was just saying that i 'didn't get' the fascination with Cabbage Patch Dolls!! but i loved these!
"Troll dolls, originally known as Leprocauns and also known as Dam dolls, Wishniks, Treasure Trolls, and Norfins, became one of America's biggest toy fads beginning in the autumn of 1963, and lasting throughout 1965. With their brightly colored hair and cute faces, they were featured in both Life Magazine and Time Magazine in articles which commented on the "good luck" they would bring to their owners."

8 track tapes, vinyl records, analog TV, Windows OS 3.1, 95, or 98, and a host of other items have come and gone in the past, and your car tires could go this way eventually. Michelin is experimenting with The Tweel, an airless tire that could make the inner tube a thing of the past. The pros are that having a flat tire would become a thing of the past, when the tread is worn, it can be replaced, as opposed to discarding whole tires, lessening the environmental impact by reducing the rubber discarded, and the polyurethane spokes can be designed to handle differing road conditions, but it isn't ready for market yet. Driving over 50 mph can result in undesirable vibrations, also the sound is loud to the ears when driven at high speeds. When these new airless tires eventually hit the market, there might be another valuable item though that goes the way of the dinosaur. Apparently spike strips are useless against them. I can't see law enforcement officers being overly enthusiastic about this new technology!

Born Julia Chalene Newmeyer we know her better as Catwoman in the Batman television series. She stared in 12 episodes. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Newmar appeared in several low-budget films. She also guest-starred on TV shows including The Love Boat, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Hart to Hart, CHiPs and Fantasy Island. She was seen in George Michael's video clip Too Funky in 1992 as well as appearing as herself in a 1996 episode of Melrose Place. A legal altercation with her neighbor, Jim Belushi, ended amicably with an invitation to co-star with him on his sitcom According to Jim in an episode that poked fun at the feud. Not too bad for being 75 years old!

In 1987, Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy), a car salesman from Minneapolis, Minnesota with financial troubles, hatches a plan to end his financial difficulties. Through his mechanic, a former criminal named Shep Proudfoot, he enlists the service of two hit men, Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) and Carl Showalter (Steve Buscemi), at a bar in Fargo, North Dakota to kidnap his wife, Jean, who will be returned unharmed for a payment of $80,000. Jerry's secret plan is to tell his wealthy but antagonistic father-in-law, Wade, that the ransom is $1,000,000 intending to use the large difference to settle unspecified debts he has accrued and to invest in a business venture involving a parking lot...another black comedy that i thought was terrific! I also got a kick out of how much and how often the local police chief, heavily pregnant Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand)and her sweet husband, Norm, ate!!

The Howdy Doody Show was one of the first and easily the most popular children's television show in the 1950s and a reflection of the wonder, technical fascination, and business realities associated with early television. While Howdy and his friends entertained American children, they also sold television sets to American parents and demonstrated the potential of the new medium to advertisers.

In the 1920s, after many years entertaining crowds as an escape artist, Houdini changed his show to expose the methods and motivations of the Spiritualists, a group who claimed they could contact the dead through séances. Testifying against them in Congress, he also exposed their tricks while on stage, an act he turned into a Broadway show. Soon, Houdini received death threats from the group.
