This is the opening theme to The Lone Ranger, which starred Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels, and aired from 1949 to 1957. Originally, Tonto rode double with the Lone Ranger on Silver, but after a publicity photo was taken of the Lone Ranger and Tonto this way, the producers wisely decided to give Tonto his own steed.

Scenes of the 60s Bonanza with Johnny Cash singing the theme to Bonanza. If you ever wondered what the words to the song were here it is. A wonderful job by Ellen Tracy.

Henry Fonda as a psychopathic bad guy.. No way, you say?... "Once Upon a Time in the West" was Sergio Leone's greatest Western, although Clint Eastwood's three films remain among my favorites. Leone had hoped to have Eastwood in this film as "Harmonica", but they were unable to work things out. As it is, I think having Charles Bronson in the role was more effective. It was central to Eastwood's persona in those three films that he be both a man with no name and with no past, but Bronson's character of Harmonica was entirely driven by the past and his need for revenge. He was brilliant, and his tiny, piercing blue eyes lent an eerie intensity to many of his screen moments. The casting of the equally blue-eyed Henry Fonda as a sadistic villain was a stroke of genius, and he managed to produce one of his most memorable roles. This was an incredible movie, and by far, one of the most thoughtful, unique Westerns ever made. The ending is the finest of his many westerns, as well as one of the most surprising. It easily goes on any list of the greatest westerns in the history of film.

The second of the Dollars trilogy, sees Ennio Morricone once again bring memorable music to one of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns. I'm a bit biased when it comes to Ennio As he is one of my top ten modern composers.

'From out of the west they dusted off their guns...to protect the world they knew and the women they loved!' One of my university professors had a copy of this amusing poster for a fictitious movie on his office wall. Check out the supporting cast! As in all westerns, the good guys wore the white hats; the bad guys wore the black hats.

Pretty Mary Kornman was the first notable female star of the Our Gang comedies. When Hal Roach announced in 1922 his intention to produce a series of films starring ordinary kids, six-year-old Mary was suggested by her parents. (Mary's father was one of Roach's photographers.) The cute blonde replaced Peggy Cartwright as the most noteworthy female cast member. She appeared in more than 40 Our Gang shorts in the silent era, often as the heartthrob for smitten boys. This photo was taken in 1924 when Mary was nine. She was dropped from the troupe before her eleventh birthday in 1926 when she was judged to be too old--and was replaced as the lead female by Jean Darling. Mary's younger sister, Mildred, had several non-speaking roles in Our Gang movies from 1926 through 1935. Mary kept acting until 1940. One role had Mary playing the female lead opposite John Wayne in one of his early low-budget westerns. She returned to do two Our Gang shorts in the sound era. Mary appeared as herself, along with a few other Our Gang 'old-timers,' in Reunion in Rhythm (1937). She also played the role of the school teacher in 'Fish Hooky' (1933), which is considered one of the best Our Gang films. Mary died of cancer in 1973 at the age of 57.
