Hypnotist on WML Jackie Carroll, a fetching 18-year-old female hypnotist, is a contestant on the January 5, 1958 episode of What's My Line. Some of the questions she's asked can be interpreted rather salaciously if one had thoughts along those lines.

Dorothy Kilgallen Here's a fun segment from the March 21, 1954 episode of What's My Line. Longtime WML panelist Dorothy Kilgallen had given birth to her third child, Kerry, just two days before, so she was absent from the show. Infant Kerry's two older siblings, Dickie (12) and Jill (10), appear as co-mystery guests and have the esteemed panel flummoxed for a while.

WML Panel Mourns Dorothy Kilgallen We are approaching the fiftieth anniversary of the odd death of What's My Line? panelist Dorothy Kilgallen. The 52-year-old newspaper reporter and columnist was found dead in her home about 12 hours after she had appeared live on the CBS panel show on the night of Sunday, November 7, 1965. The circumstances surrounding Kilgallen's death are, to say the least, curious. (I made another post on this topic years ago; please check it out!) This clip is the concluding two minutes from the following Sunday's WML episode. Regular panelists Arlene Francis and Bennett Cerf, former panelist Steve Allen, and guest panelist Kitty Carlisle all pay tribute to their late colleague. Note that the men are wearing plain suits instead of their usual tuxedos as a gesture of mourning. It was undoubtedly the saddest episode in the 17-plus years that the original WML aired.

Rhonda Fleming on Whats My Line - 1955 Beautiful red-headed screen star Rhonda Fleming is the mystery guest on an episode of What's My Line? from April 10, 1955. Clearly panelist Bennett Cerf is thrilled by her presence. Apart from the obvious reason, Cerf often wrongly guessed Fleming was the mystery challenger on several earlier episodes when she wasn't.

Art Carney Whats My Line Parody What's My Line fans will enjoy this! From 1959 to 1961 Art Carney hosted several comedy specials. Most people generally do not realize how gifted Carney was in doing impersonations. In this clip from a special that aired in December 1959, the popular panel show What's My Line is parodied by Carney--who does a terrific exaggeration of WML host John Daly.

Jack Dempsey on WML 1965 I posted this clip years ago, but its source is no longer available--so here it is again: From July 1965, former world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey is the mystery guest on What's My Line? He had recently turned 70 years old--and still looked like he could fight his way out of any trouble. In fact, he would. At about this time two punks tried to mug the grand old champ near his Broadway restaurant. Dempsey flattened them both.

John Sellers Carry Back Jockey on WML In 1961 a Florida-based thoroughbred race horse named Carry Back won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes. Of course Carry Back was also the odds-on favorite to complete a rare Triple Crown by winning the Belmont Stakes. Carry Back finished a disappointing seventh, however. The following night, jockey John Sellers appeared as a mystery guest on What's My Line?
