Come Go With Me Remember the Del Vikings? They were noted for being one of the few racially integrated musical groups to attain success in the 1950's. The group was formed in 1955 by Clarence E. Quick, Kripp Johnson, Don Jackson, Samuel Paterson, and Bernard Robertson, who were all enlisted in the USAF and stationed in Pittsburgh PA. Because all of the members were in the service, they constantly ran the risk of being disrupted by members being stationed in other places. This happened soon after the group's forming when Paterson and Robertson were sent to Germany. They were replaced by baritone David Lerchey, the group's first white member, and tenor Norman Wright. Originally signed to Fee Bee Records (1957), their first hit came in 1957, with the Wright-led 'Come Go with Me'. Soon after, Jackson was out, and was replaced by Gus Backus, the group's second white member. The group quickly found itself in greater demand following the release of 'Come Go with Me', which propelled the group into the Top 10 on Billboard's Top 100. They split up in 1965, but were back in 1970 with a near original lineup, Clarence Quick, Kripp Johnson, Norman Wright, Dave Lerchey, and William Blakely. Although a couple of members died over the years, the Del Vikings were featured on the PBS special KPBS Doo Wop Show in 1999, which is when this performance was filmed.

1984 Canon Typewriter Commercial This is a fascinating 1984 commercial for Canon typewriters. This one has computer-like features to automatically line up decimals and make changes. In other words, it's heralding the very technology that will soon render it obsolete!

Featured Member - Ray- Original YouTube Introductory Video March 2007 To introduce myself to this site...let me start with my original Introductory Video, produced for YouTube, from March of 2007. This pretty much describes me and my involvement in home video. But collecting videos is only one of my facets...I have been collecting pop songs on audiotape since the 1960s (I have a reel-to-reel collection that is in essence a history of Cleveland radio during the 1960s), I have a newspaper collection that I'm trying to sell, and have about 750 45's that I'm still trying to figure out what to do with! I also learned how to become somewhat computer-savvy....I have published two websites (one devoted to my precious Betamax video format, it's at betainfoguide.net, the other devoted to one of the most popular Top 40 AM stations ever to hit Cleveland, WIXY-1260 - that site is at www.wixy1260.com). I am originally from Cleveland but lived in Las Vegas for 4 1/2 wonderful years in the mid-90s, and hope to get back there someday....permanently. Most of my working life has been spent in retail, mainly the restaurant business, although now I'm working at New York Frozen Foods baking bread! I love to meet people with common interests, which is why I'm here; plus I have 7 active channels on YouTube! I married a wonderful Japanese lady in 1980 and we'll soon be celebrating 30 years of married bliss! Take care, and let me hear from you!

Fred Allen on Whats My Line Comedian Fred Allen appears as a mystery challenger on this episode of What's My Line in 1953. Allen, a huge radio star, had difficulty finding his niche in the new medium of television. He briefly hosted a talent show for a few months in 1953. Soon afterward Allen became a regular panelist on What's My Line--a position he held until his sudden death from a heart attack in 1956.

1915 Scottish Railroad Disaster The worst railroad disaster in history occurred on May 22, 1915 near Gretna Green, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. It is commonly known as the Quintinshill Disaster, having been named for the location of a nearby intermediate signal box with passing loops on each side on the Caledonian Railway Main Line linking Glasgow and Carlisle. The crash, which involved five trains, killed a probable 226 people and injured 246 others. Those killed were mainly territorial soldiers from the Royal Scots heading for the Gallipoli front in the First World War. The precise number of dead was never established with certainty as the roll list of the regiment was destroyed by the fire. The crash occurred when a troop train travelling from Larbert, Stirlingshire to Liverpool, Lancashire collided with a local passenger train that had been shunted on to the main line, to then be hit by an express train to Glasgow which crashed into the wreckage a minute later. Gas from the lighting system of the old wooden carriages of the troop train ignited, starting a fire which soon engulfed the three passenger trains and also two goods trains standing on nearby passing loops. A number of bodies were never recovered, having been wholly consumed by the fire. The bodies that were recovered were buried together in a mass grave in Edinburgh's Rosebank Cemetery. Such was the scope of the disaster that many of the rescuers wrongly assumed the trains had been targets of German saboteurs. Four bodies, believed to be of children, were never identified or claimed and are buried in the Western Necropolis, Glasgow. The cause of the accident was poor working practices on the part of the two signalmen involved. It was discovered that the two men often colluded to falsify their records of when they relieved each other, routinely did not follow regulations properly, and engaged in other unsafe practices. The results of the official inquiry into the disaster led to their imprisonment for culpable homicide after legal proceedings in both Scotland and England. A memorial to the dead soldiers was erected soon after the accident. There are a number of more recent memorials at various locations. An annual remembrance service is held at Rosebank Cemetery.

Andrea True Connection More More More Andrea True (born July 26, 1943, Nashville, Tennessee) is a former adult film star who was also a singer during the disco era. During her heyday as a porn actress, True was hired by a real estate business on the Caribbean island of Jamaica to produce a commercial. During her stay, a political crisis gripped the island and no one was allowed to leave with any money. Not wanting to lose her hard-earned money, True asked her friend, record producer Gregg Diamond to travel to the island and produce a track for her, which she would finance locally. Diamond arrived with a composition in hand, to which True added lyrics. The result of their collaboration was the now disco classic "More, More, More". in 1976 ultimately remixed by producer Tom Moulton, More, More, More became a favorite in discos and nightclubs. It ultimately reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and a full album with the same title soon followed. The single also reached the charts in Great Britain (where it peaked at # 5) and Germany (where it peaked at # 9).

John Wayne on The Beverly Hillbillies This is the last couple of minutes from my favorite episode of The Beverly Hillbillies (The Indians Are Coming). It's political incorrectness at its best! Granny learns that a native tribe has a territorial dispute with the Clampett land claim back in Tennessee. She expects the worst and assumes the 'Injuns' will soon be attacking. In order to prevent the Clampetts from going back to Tennessee to fight the Injuns, Mr. Drysdale arranges for some Hollywood stuntmen to simulate an Injun attack on the Clampett home in Beverly Hills! Throughout the episode Granny wishes John Wayne were present to help fight the Injuns. He shows up at the very end in a brief cameo appearance.
