A 1966 "zany" sitcom, "The Pruitts Of Southampton" starred the mad cap Phyllis Diller! Unfortunately low ratings forced ABC to retool the show and in January 1967 the show was re-titled "The Phyllis Diller Show" and moved it from Tuesday's at 9pm to Friday's at 9:30pm! I guess the damage was done because by the end of the season the "Pruitts" were cancelled:-( Silly sitcom yes, but no sillier than The Lucy Show over on CBS! BTW the exterior shot of the Pruitts home is actually the Biltmore Estate in NC!

You might not recognize Bert Mustin's name, but if you are a fan of classic television you'll recognize this character actor's face anywhere. Mustin did not start acting until he was 67 years old. However, he made the most of the remaining 25 years of his life. He had a recurring role in Leave It To Beaver as Gus the Fireman. He appeared in a handful of episodes of All In The Family as Mr. Quigley, the delightful gent who escaped from the old folks' home. He also made memorable appearances in The Twilight Zone, Phyllis, The Andy Griffith Show, and The Brady Bunch. Mustin died 10 days before his 93rd birthday in 1977.
