Melody Patterson was best know for her role on the 60's show F Troop. She was 16 at the time but played a much older role playing Captain Parmenter girlfriend. She lied to the studio saying she was 18 at the time according to numerous internet reports.
After F-Troop was cancelled in 1967 she did some TV, radio and entertained the troops in Vietnam. She married actor James MacArthur who is known for the role of Dan "Danno" Williams in the original TV series Hawaii Five-O from 1970 to 1975. She appeared in many Hawaii Five-O episodes.
Born April 16, 1949 she is 64 at the time of this writing. She occasionally frequents reunion gatherings for F Troop however her official website wranglerjane.com went offline in 2005.

Here's the original movie trailer from That Hagen Girl, a bad flick from 1947. This is the film in which Ronald Reagan plays a laywer who is rumored to be the father of Mary Hagen (played by Shirley Temple). In the climactic scene of the original film cut, Reagan's character proposes marriage to Shirley's character! Ick! That scene got such a negative response at advance screenings it was deleted from the film.

How often do you find someone doing something you'd never expect of them. I did just that with Paul Timpanelli who is the President and CEO of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council. He is an original member of the Doo Wop group YesterYear. I also interviewed former Vice President Candidate and Senator of Connecticut today Joe Liberman....I know you all would enjoy Paul's group first! I have more of YesterYear's music to come throughout the week, I was to stay for 2 songs, I stayed for so much more!

Regulars on this website know that I love this old show. (My 300-plus WML posts attest to this!) The original CBS version of What's My Line aired Sunday nights at 10:30 from February 2, 1950 to September 3, 1967. I was just three years old when it went off the air so I never saw WML during its glory days (although I frequently watched the syndicated 1968-75 version). To make up for what I missed, I've been reading everything I can about this great slice of Americana. In the comment section below, I'll be listing some esoteric facts--trivia, if you like--about this supremely classy game show. By the way, this is a publicity photo of the WML gang from 1955.

Hi to my friends at YRT! My name is Lori and I was born in upstate NY in June of 1968. I was adopted at 6 months of age and grew up on a dairy farm about an hour southwest of Albany. I love all animals so this was the perfect place for me. My parents worked hard to give me an ideal childhood and succeeded. I would often sneak out of the house as a young child to go visit my "friends" in the barn. I love to read my paternal Grandma's diaries... "Lori was up first thing this morning with toys in one hand and a cat in the other." (1972) I think it was my childhood and the wonderful & comforting memories of it that make YRT such a favorite of mine.
I have 3 children, Brianna - age 19, Devon - age 16 & Kayleigh - age 11. I wish they could have grown up when I did. It seems it is more difficult for kids now. There's so much negative stuff for them out there. As much as I love the internet (making new friends, traveling to far off places without leaving home, etc) I think I had a better childhood because of not having it as part of my life. I originally went to college for journalism and dropped out because it wasn't for me. I am not one who is able to always be objective and I don't like the way you have to invade other people's privacy for the sake of a story. I went back to school in for Community/Human Services and now I work as Medicaid eligibility examiner at the Department of Social Services. I like bird watching (raptors) & before I was working full-time I would volunteer with DEC to monitor bald eagles so they could time when to band the eaglets in the Spring. I would accompany them for the local bandings which was always a thrill for me. My other hobby is weather, a real "weather-weenie" as my friends like to call me. I'm a meteorologist-wannabe who was to frightened of physics and math to pursue it as a career. I like to bowl, go fishing and am a pop-culture junkie. I have been told I have a wealth of useless information and take it as a total compliment. I stumbled upon YRT from doing a search for 70s pop culture sites and have been visiting here daily ever since. I love the way a post will prompt my memory of something else and it goes on and on. The people on this site are very welcoming and it feels like "home" on the net. Thank you Steve for the wonderful site and to all of you who help me "go back in time" every day.

Stage actress and well-known panel show celebrity Kitty Carlisle appears as a mystery challenger on the syndicated version of What's My Line. Since Carlisle was an occasional panelist on the original WML, old colleagues Bennett Cerf and Arlene Francis were quick to recognize her.

On October 26, 2002, Christopher Harn and two buddies masterminded one of the most talked about betting scandals ever. The annual Breeders Cup races are often called the Super Bowl of horse racing. Six races are run. The popular Pick Six wager requires a bettor to select the winners of all six races prior to the first race being run. The payoff can be enormous if anyone achieves the feat. As an employee of the computer company that handled off-track betting, Harn used his technical know-how to attempt to beat the system. On Breeders Cup day he placed a routine bet using a friend's off-track account. Then, after four races had been run, Harn took advantage of his knowledge of when the results were transmitted. Harn went to his office and altered his friend's original bet to give him the first four winners of the Pick Six. Then he 'boxed' the last two races, ensuring a winning ticket regardless of which horses happened to win the last two races. The payoff was an astounding $3 million. Unfortunately for Harn, the payoff was too rich for his own good. The bet was immediately flagged as suspicious because of the odd betting sequence and because too many longshots had won that day. Eventually investigators pried a confession out of Harn and his co-conspirators. They were convicted of fraud.

The pledge of allegiance was originally written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, a socialist magazine writer. When he wrote it for an children’s magazine, he also described a salute that he thought would be appropriate during its recital.
The pledge was aimed towards children, and the magazine also gave free flags away to schools, where the pledge was originally recited. The salute they were taught to give, with one stiff arm outstretched toward the flag, was deemed the “Bellamy salute” after its creator (who had gotten the idea from a salute that the Romans had done).
In the early 1940s, it was noticed that the salute bore a resemblance to a certain other salute being used in Germany at the time (which was based off of the same original Roman salute). As a result, it was formally replaced by Congress with the now-customary hand-on-heart during the pledge.
