My name is Jack and this trek of mine began in Dallas in '49. Raised in Irving, TX, I am one of seven kids which made for a crowd in a small house and you had to not be the last to the table during chow time. Now, I am the father of four and the grandfather of nine and I am proud of everyone of them. Just ask me, I have pictures. My family was and is the primary focus for most of my life and kids in sports and other activities claimed most of my free time. These are the days I thought I would have more time for myself, not so. I seem to be busier now than ever.
April marks my 40th anniversary with the US Army in one capacity or another. Talk about being a lifer. In April of '69 I was drafted into the Army in Dallas, spent two years in (infantry and Vietnam) and then got out. The next two years I went to school while a reserve member and then returned to active duty in 1973. My military retirement was effective July of 1992. I retired as a Master Sergeant after serving as a First Sergeant for seven years. Immediately thereafter I returned to service in a civilian capacity, which is where I remain.
Today it still is all about soldiers. I work and teach in a dental prosthetics laboratory for an Army residency program that has Army and Navy dentists to include two Canadian officers as residents. I have a job that I really like what I do. So, as I have always asked myself, 'Where to from here?' Haven't got a clue - perhaps this is the last stop, God willing.

Another of my favorite shows as a kid. I always got a kick when they'd call the Capt. Binghamton "Leadbottom".

I had a Pontiac Tempest which was a GTO wanna be when I was in high school. Had it until I got out of the Navy when on a rain slick road I hydroplaned and landed on top of huge bolder cracking the frame that caused it's demise. I still miss that car!

Continuing my quest to bring quirky UK. hits to the fore. Billy Connelly; comedy god to us Scots; Takes the tune In The Navy by the Village People, and turns it into something only us Brits could appreciate. The Brownies; by the way; are a girls organisation, a bit like the Scouts are for boys.

I was born a poor black boy…..I always wanted to use that in a bio! Can anyone tell us what movie that is a quote from and why it is funny? So many of you are clamoring for my bio so you have to give the public what they want!
I was born into a military family so we moved around a lot as young kids, fortunately I had four brothers .We were hardly ever indoors playing with our Man From Uncle toy sets, our play guns, trucks and of course our bikes. I love coming across a posting from our members that stir up the memories from childhood like you I’m sure! I remember the theme to Perry Mason as I was just getting settled for bed, or someone posting a movie that just mom and I watched together, or the memories from high school from a song I had forgotten.
After high school I entered the U.S. Navy and served onboard the U.S.S. America (CV-66). After four years with the Navy I worked for the cable company as an installer and left being a line technician within 4 years. I then started my own video production company. I’ve also worked and trained as a professional photographer so those two trades kept me busy until the economy tanked. I currently freelance for the local TV news and look to expand this with other stations and I also am starting a new website for brides, I’ll let you know when this launches.
I am married to TerryAnn and we have a 14 year old son Alex and a daughter Catie who is 7 going on 17. We also have two cats named Sonny and Cher (of course!).
I started YRTwhen I was frustrated with not find much memorabilia on the internet. I’m sure most of the clips on YRT is on YouTube, but you have to know what you are looking for and often times you have to be very specific in your search. So YRT is all the memories growing up under one roof! I love it when a member posts something I would never think of, it’s like seeing an old friend again. Speaking of friends, that’s what makes this site so special, making friends with the members around the world!

One of the most famous and powerful images of the Second World War: Joe Rosenthal's dramatic photo of the Marines raising the American flag atop Mount Suribachi during the horrendously bloody Battle of Iwo Jima on February 23, 1945. (Actually only five of the six are Marines; one is a Navy corpsman.) Three of the men pictured here were killed in action before the terrible battle finally ended more than a month later.

One Hundred and Twenty-five years after it's construction, the Brooklyn Bridge remains a powerful symbol of engineering might and imagination, and a revered fixture in the landscape of the nation's largest city. And it can still attract a crowd, like the one at the bridge's 125th birthday blowout Thursday night, May 22, 2008, which featured fireworks, a Navy flyover, a colorful new lighting scheme, a musical tribute to honor the storied span, and even a birthday cake in the shape of the bridge.
