The very first Happy Meal in 1979 was the Circus Wagon Happy Meal. It cost one dollar and contained either a McDoodler stencil, a puzzle book, a McWrist wallet, an ID bracelet or McDonaldland character erasers. The original Happy Meal consisted of a hamburger or cheeseburger, twelve-ounce soft drink, a small order of french fries, and a "McDonaldland Cookie Sampler", a small portion of cookies.

Remember those Swanson TV dinners. That's all you needed, that, and of course, the little folding tv table so you could sit in the living room and watch your favorite show. Ahhh, those were the days.

This site was conceived after viewing The Secret one time. Google Ads pays me about a Happy Meal a day! Watch out for the changes as I go back to this thinking!

The Gold Rush (1925) provided many famous scenes for Charlie Chaplin. This one was terrific. Faced with starvation, Charlie and fellow propector Big Jim McKay (Mack Swain) boil one of Charlie's shoes for a Thanksgiving meal. (Charlie had a confectioner make a shoe out of licorice for this scene.)

This was taken on our first vacation to Miami Beach in 1955. If she knew I was posting this I'd be dead! My mom was so typical of the 50's mother and wife, she worked over 40 hours a week, took care of our dad, cooked meals from scratch, cleaned a home and raised two daughters. She also paid all the bills, nursed everyone through their illnesses and made sure her own mother was taken care of. She's a tough cookie and still here at 90, taking care of her home, nursing all of us, and still making the best chicken soup and pasta in the world!
