i would much rather celebrate the life and beauty of Sharon Tate than focus on the terrible end of her life. . . she made just a few films during her brief career, including DON'T MAKE WAVES (1967; with Tony Curtis and Dave Draper), EYE OF THE DEVIL (1967; with Deborah Kerr),and my personal favorite VALLEY OF THE DOLLS (1967; with Susan Hayward and Patty Duke), and THE WRECKING CREW (1969; with Dean Martin and Tina Louise). She was only 26 years old when she was murdered in August 1969. BEVERLY HILLBILLIES fans will recall Tate from her recurring role as Janet Trego from 1963 to 1965...

Green Acres was another 1960s sitcom with a very recognizable theme. It was a reversal of The Beverly Hillbillies: Rich urbanites move to the simplicity of a rural setting. This show had an element of surrealism about it. Oliver Douglas was often the only sane person among a group of crazies. It is reputedly Conan O'Brien's favorite TV show.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm an animal lover, which also applies to my choice of cartoons. My two favorite little guys have always been Chip n Dale, two Chipmunks that just can't stay out of mischief. Here they are from 1951, in Chicken In The Rough.

This car was the brainchild of Edsel Ford, son of the company founder Henry Ford. The Edsel managed to lose the Ford Motor Company the sum of $250 million dollars. When the car was shown in magazines, it was highly blurred or wrapped in paper. Daddy was not happy.

And you thought those people that set up a room full of dominos to knock over were amazing... believe it or not, just unbelievable!! When the ad was pitched to senior executives, they signed off on it immediately without any hesitation, including the costs. There are six, and only six, hand-made Honda Accords in the world. To the horror of Honda engineers, the filmmakers disassembled two of them to make this film. There are no computer graphics or digital tricks in the film. Everything you see really happened in real time, exactly as you see it. The film took 606 takes. On the first 605 takes, something, usually very minor, didn't work. They would then have to set the whole thing up again.
The crew spent weeks shooting night and day. The film cost six million dollars and took three months to complete including full engineering of the sequence. In addition, it is two minutes long so every time Honda airs the film on British television, they're shelling out enough dough to keep any one of us in clover for a lifetime. Everything you see in the film (aside from the walls, floor, ramp and complete Honda Accord) are parts from those two cars. And how about those funky windshield wipers...?? At a cost of $6.2 million for 90-sec commercial, this is the world's costliest ad and hands down winner in the world of ads.

I Love Lucy At The 6th Annual Emmy Awards!
In these excerpts from the earliest existing Emmy Awards telecast, Vivian Vance accepts the Emmy for Best Series Supporting Actress (from none other than Lucy's former radio co-star Richard Denning) and then Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz accept the Emmy awarded to I Love Lucy as the Best Situation Comedy of 1953.
("I love Lucy" received no awards for comedy writing that evening. AT that time, the Academy had not yet decided to award Emmys for writing)

A very recent photo of Jaclyn Smith. Is this the face of a 61 year old woman??? Obviously, yes. She was born on October 26th 1947. It simply amazes me.....
