Pinky and the Brain Intro 1993 Original run : September 9, 1995 – November 14, 1998. The characters Pinky and the Brain first appeared in 1993 as a recurring segment on the show Animaniacs. From 1995 to 1998, Pinky and the Brain were spun off into their own show on The WB Television Network, Steven Spielberg Presents Pinky and the Brain, with 65 episodes produced by Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation. Later, they appeared in the unsuccessful series, Steven Spielberg Presents Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain. Pinky and Brain are genetically enhanced laboratory mice who reside in a cage in the Acme Labs research facility. Brain is self-centered and scheming; Pinky is good-natured but feeble minded. In each episode, Brain devises a new plan to take over the world, which ultimately ends in failure, usually due to Pinky's idiocy, the impossibility of Brain's plan, Brain's own arrogance, or just circumstances beyond their control. In common with many other Animaniacs shorts, many episodes are in some way a parody of something else, usually a film or novel. The opening song is preceded by the following dialogue: Pinky: "Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?" The Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky—try to take over the world!"

Jacqueline Gareau Victory Ceremony On Arpil 21, 1980, Jacqueline Gareau, 27, of Montreal competed in the prestgious Boston Marathon. Gareau took the lead amongst the female runners after seven miles. Accordingly, the television coverage focused on her until the controversial finish. Gareau was shocked to find another runner, Rosie Ruiz, had broken the tape ahead of her. Ruiz was disqualified after an investigation proved that she had started the race, vanished, and then re-entered the marathon course a few hundred meters from the finish line. Despite overwhelming evidence that she had cheated, Ruiz remained utterly defiant--to the point of refusing to return her medal. Gareau was awarded a medal a few days after the fact in a subdued ceremony. Twenty-five years later, at the 2005 Boston Marathon, the 52-year-old Gareau rightfully got her "moment of victory" denied to her in 1980 by Ruiz's cheating. Gareau was allowed to ceremonially break the tape, and was given a bigger medal than Ruiz had gotten in 1980.

Friendly Giant LOOK UP WAY UP The Friendly Giant was a popular Canadian children's television program that aired from September 1958 through to March 1985. It featured three main characters: a giant named Friendly (played by Bob Homme)who lived in a huge castle, along with his puppet animal friends Rusty (a rooster who played a harp and lived in a book bag hung by the castle window) and Jerome (a giraffe). The two principal puppets were manipulated and voiced by Rod Coneybeare. The Friendly Giant was a wealthy man who paid for and produced the show himself. That is why it is so good. He always had creative control of the show. He made it fun for kids and didn't sell them out.

The New Treasure Hunt - 1974 Clip The New Treasure Hunt was a 1974-1977 syndicated remake of a 1956-1959 game show. The orginal show had a quiz segment. The 1970s version did not. Hosted by Geoff Edwards, it offered a fantastic grand prize of $25,000 to a contest who was lucky enough to choose the right box out of 30--and have the nerve to stick with it. Total Television describes the program as "slow moving and cruelly suspenseful." In this short clip from a 1974 episode, a contestant thinks she has made a bad bargain until Geoff surprises her.
