We Will Miss You Brett Somers WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) — Actress and comedian Brett Somers, who amused game show fans with her quips on the "Match Game" in the 1970s, has died, her son said. She was 83. Somers died Saturday at her home in Westport of stomach and colon cancer, Adam Klugman said Monday. Hosted by Gene Rayburn, "Match Game" was the top game show during much of the 1970s. Contestants would try to match answers to nonsense questions with a panel of celebrities; much of the humor came from the racy quips and putdowns. Shows from the 1973-79 run, featuring regulars like Somers, Richard Dawson and Charles Nelson Reilly, are still seen on cable TV's GSN (formerly Game Show Network.) Somers married actor Jack Klugman, the future star of the television shows "Quincy" and "The Odd Couple," in 1953. The two separated in 1974, but never divorced.

The New Odd Couple - 1982 Sitcom Flop In 1982 ABC tried to resurrect The Odd Couple. It had run on that network from 1970 to 1975 with the familiar and popular duo of Jack Klugman and Tony Randall. This time ABC tried it with a black twosome in the leading roles: Demond Wilson (who starred on Sanford and Son from 1972 to 1977) played sloppy sportswriter Oscar Madison. Ron Glass (who starred on Barney Miller from 1975 to 1982) played fussy fashion photographer Felix Unger. While the show was billed as the "new" version of The Odd Couple, seven of the series' first 13 scripts were merely recycled versions of the 1970s episodes. Viewers didn't like the the show at all: The New Odd Couple lasted just 16 episodes before being yanked off the air.

Odd Couple - Bobby Riggs Wins Felix Capitalizing on his regained fame, tennis champ Bobby Riggs appeared on the popular sitcom The Odd Couple in 1973.
