Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band from New York City. Their work fuses the shock tactics of Alice Cooper, the rebellious mood of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the style of the New York Dolls, and the extravagant makeup of KISS...and they're a HOOT to look at!!

This is a boxing clip from the 1975 Pan-American games in Mexico City. Cuba's greatest amateur boxer, Teofilo Stevenson, demolishes an outclassed Brazilian foe in heavyweight action. (A young Ray Leonard provides color commentary!)

Tony Stein was born in Dayton, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 22 Sep 1942. At Iwo Jima, manned with a light machine gun that he had previously taken from an aircraft, he fired while standing upright amidst heavy enemy fire to provide his fellow Marines time to get into position. He then charged nearby Japanese pillboxes alone, killing about 20 Japanese soldiers in close range. He ran out of ammunition eight times; each time, he ran back to the beach with a wounded Marine on his shoulders, resupplied himself, and ran right back into combat. On 1 Mar 1945, he was killed in action. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor and now rests in peace at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

Like most boxing fans, Howard Cosell figured 32-year-old Muhammad Ali had no chance to regain the world heavyweight title whe he stepped into the ring to face 25-year-old George Foreman in Zaire in 1974. (Ali won by an eighth-round knockout.) In 1964 Cosell picked Sonny Liston to beat Ali (then Cassius Clay) in one round. Clay won the title that night when Liston failed to come out for the seventh round.

An awesome performance of "I Will Always Love You", (from the 1992 film The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner) at Divas 1999. Whitney Houston was one of a few black artists to receive heavy rotation on MTV in the 1980's during a male rock dominated time, in the network's early years. AOL Black Voices said "Though her success seemed like a lightening rod, it was always validated by Whitney's polished and powerful vocal abilities - making her known as "The Voice". After marrying R&B singer Bobby Brown at the height of her career, rumors of drug and spousal abuse led to a decline in her album sales and her public image. Her personal troubles were talked about more than any of her music, and she regularly appeared in the tabloid press. Houston began looking and sounding less like the singer people came to know and she stopped making public appearances. She underwent two drug rehab programs in 2005 and 2006. After a successful second program in 2006, she divorced Bobby Brown and gained custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina. She has since been working on her 7th studio album with music mogul and close friend and mentor Clive Davis.

I enjoy collecting sports memorabilia. I have a large collection of The Ring Magazine, the self-proclaimed Bible of Boxing. I especially love the magazine covers from the 1940s and early 1950s. They were terrific works of art--especially those created by C. R. Scharre! Check out this cover from the December 1952 issue featuring new heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano and former champ Jack Dempsey. Founded in 1922, The Ring Magazine is apparently the fourth most collected magazine in America (behind National Geographic, Playboy, and Life).

This is the last half of the first round of Jack Dempsey's title-winning effort against huge world heavyweight champion Jess Willard. The date was July 4, 1919. The site was Toledo, Ohio. Watch as Dempsey lands a perfect left hook that sends Willard crumbling to the canvas. The brave champ rises and gets knocked down six more times before he's saved by the bell. (There was no neutral-corner rule or mandatory eight count in 1919.) Incredibly, Willard survived two more punishing rounds--without being knocked down again--before quitting in his corner at the end of the third round. Men were men back in those days!

Released in 1968, this was the first of the celebrity 'don't smoke' appeals. Bill Talman played the DA on 'Perry Mason' and was under very heavy medication at the time this was filmed, six weeks before his death. The ad didn't start running until after his death, so the effect was even more profound.

On January 22, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica, 24-year-old George Foreman destroyed reigning titlist Joe Frazier--knocking him down six times in less than two rounds--to win the world heavyweight championship. It was one of boxing's most decisive title-winning efforts ever. Listen to Howard Cosell's famous call: Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!

Tommy Burns defends his world heavyweight title versus Australia's Bill Squires on July 4, 1907 in Colma, California. Burns wins in convincing fashion with a first-round knockout. The diminutive Burns would win his next seven title defenses too--all by knockout.
