Man Catches Bullet Between His Teeth This clip is an excerpt from an old 50's TV program called 'You Asked For It', a popular human-interest show that originally aired on TV between 1950-59. On the show, viewers were asked to send in postcards describing something that they wanted to see on television, such as the reenactment of William Tell shooting an apple off his son's head. (1950 US National Archery Champion Stan Overby performed the feat, shooting an apple off his assistant's head.) Short film clips were also presented, with the selections based upon viewer requests. As a consequence, many of the clips were presented multiple times. Some of the more popular clips included a tour of the bizarre Winchester Mystery House and the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The program was named 'The Art Baker Show', after the series creator and host. In April 1951, the show's title was changed to 'You Asked For It'. Originally airing on the cash-strapped DuMont Network from December 1950 to December 1951, it moved to ABC, where it remained until the end of its original run in September 1959. The show was sponsored by Skippy peanut butter and Studebaker Automobiles. I remember watching this series as a kid, but if I'd seen this show it would have definitely stood out in my memory! No way did this man perform this 'feat', but it sure must have left kids wondering back then..he probably had the bullet already in his mouth and the officer was shooting blanks...duh..I mean..shooting a real bullet almost point blank into a man's face on live tv is going to be messy, to say the least..

Election Will Be Deceided Tonight For the last 17 elections, that's 68 years the game played by the Washington Redskins decides who wins the Presidential election. If the Redskins win, the party that is in office will remain in office. Right now it's is 10-6 at the half, Pittsburgh is winning. I Washington loses, Obama will win the election.

Marijuana Party Formed In 2000, a new political party was established in Canada--the Marijuana Party. The ultimate in one-issue parties, the Marijuana Party was established solely to end Canada's prohibition on cannabis. It has no formal platform on any other issue. In the 2000 Canadian federal election, the Marijuana Party ran candidates in 73 ridings, and received more than 66,000 votes. (That was about 2 percent of the overall vote total in those ridings.) In the three subsequent federal elections since 2000, the Marijuana Party fielded progressively fewer and fewer candidates each time. In 2008, only eight ridings featured Marijuana Party candidates. That year the party's biggest accomplishment was a fourth-place finish in the far north riding of Nunavut, where the Marijuana Party candidate finished ahead of the Green Party candidate.

Redskins Lose Romeny To Win The Washington Redskins lost their home game against the Carolina Panthers today by the score of 21-13. The Redskins moved to Washington in 1937. Since then, there have been 18 presidential elections. In 17 of those, the following rule applied: If the Redskins win their last home game before the election, the party that won the previous election wins the next election. If the Redskins lose, the challenging party's candidate wins.

Bill Clinton Dies Onstage (Booed) In 1988, then-governor of Arkansas William Jefferson Clinton made his national debut at the Democratic Convention when he endorsed Michael Dukakis for the nomination. Unfortunately, it was a very long speech that got cheers when he finally ended.

Howard Johnsons Restaurants Another iconic American business has ended. The last remaining Howard Johnson's restaurant--located in Lake George, NY--shut its doors in 2017. First established in 1954, at one time HoJo's numbered more than 600 restaurants. They were common sights along America's highways, often attached to motor inns. The chain is fondly remembered for its large portions of quality food and its wide variety of ice cream selections. However, competition from fast food restaurants took its toll. By 2009 only three Howard Johnson's restaurants remained. Here's a photo montage from the Lake Placid HoJo's.
