October 3,1952 to May 11,1956.
The trials and tribulations of Connie Brooks, the
wisecracking English teacher at Madison High School.
Stories revolved around her romantic misadventures as she
struggled to impress fellow teacher Philip Boynton (Robert Rockwell and played on the radio show by Jeff Chandler), the biology
instructor; and her continual clash with crusty,
blustery Osgood P. Conklin (Gale Gordon), the principal. Connie rented a room from kindly old Mrs. Davis and rode to school each morning with one of her students,
the dimwitted Walter Denton (Richard Crenna). This was a great show. My daughter, who collects old radio shows, has an entire set of these and they had me in stitches every night!

Another great show from ABC, which ran from 1981 to 1983, and starred William Katt, Robert Culp, and Connie Sellecca. I guess you could call it a superhero drama-comedy. I loved the theme song, and drove my kids crazy singing it all the time lol

Baseball scholars will recognize the man on the cover of Time Magazine as Connie Mack, baseball's grand patriarch and most enduring manager. Born Cornelius McGillicuddy, Mack, a former catcher, managed the Pittsburgh Pirates for three seasons (1894 thorugh 1896) and the Philadelphia Athletics for 50 seasons (1901 through 1950) for the astonishing total of 7,755 games managed! The fact that he owned the Athletics ensured he never got fired. His teams fluctuated from greatness to ineptitude largely because he was reluctant to pay big salaries to keep his star players. (His 1931 Athletics won 107 of 154 games. In contrast, Mack's 1916 Athletics won just 36 games.) Mack never wore a uniform on the bench, always a business suit. Much beloved by the baseball establishment, Mack was once quoted as saying he preferred his teams to start well but finish in fourth place. That way he would make a profit for the season but his players couldn't demand raises!

A song like no other, sung from the heart. To me she has the greatest voice and still
is the best! Her angelic tone still can captivate her listeners. Let it captivate you.

After searching everywhere for even one clip of Our Miss Brooks, I finally found one! I don't know how many will remember this show, but I'm sure everyone remembers Richard Crenna, who played Walter Denton. This show became a real classic, and its comedy is timeless. This episode first aired on November 7, 1952. Walter invents a new type of clear paint that is great for fixing cracks and scratches in walls. Mr. Conklin orders Miss Brooks to fix up his office after Mr. Stone, the head of the board, notices how beat up the office is. Mr. Boynton decides to help Connie and Walter paint Mr. Conklin's office with Walter's new invention.
