ELVIS My Way This is Elvis in concert, taped live in June, two months before his passing on August 16, 1977. Even though his health had declined, his voice was still as strong and clear as it had always been.

Louie Anderson at The 9th Annual Young Comedians Special 1984 Rodney Dangerfield Hosts the 9th Annual Young Comedians Special. Taped at his nightclub in New York City, Dangerfield performed and acted as host while he introduced several young comedians who were given the opportunity to perform. Louie Anderson was one of eleven children and was raised on the east side of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He feels that his first audience was his family and many of his early experiences are the cornerstone of his comedy act. He will have you in stitches talking about his dad. His material involves his relationship with his mother and father, and many life experiences. In 1999, Louie landed the role as host of the new version of Family Feud. He beat out popular country singer Dolly Parton for the role. Anderson asked former Feud host Richard Dawson to come on the premiere show to give him his blessing, but Dawson declined.

Whitney Houston Live I Will Always Love You An awesome performance of "I Will Always Love You", (from the 1992 film The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner) at Divas 1999. Whitney Houston was one of a few black artists to receive heavy rotation on MTV in the 1980's during a male rock dominated time, in the network's early years. AOL Black Voices said "Though her success seemed like a lightening rod, it was always validated by Whitney's polished and powerful vocal abilities - making her known as "The Voice". After marrying R&B singer Bobby Brown at the height of her career, rumors of drug and spousal abuse led to a decline in her album sales and her public image. Her personal troubles were talked about more than any of her music, and she regularly appeared in the tabloid press. Houston began looking and sounding less like the singer people came to know and she stopped making public appearances. She underwent two drug rehab programs in 2005 and 2006. After a successful second program in 2006, she divorced Bobby Brown and gained custody of their daughter, Bobbi Kristina. She has since been working on her 7th studio album with music mogul and close friend and mentor Clive Davis.

Anna Kournikova Ah, yes...adorable Anna Kournikova! She was the Russian tennis goddess with the incredible good looks and the incredibly mediocre record. Anna reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 1997 at the age of 16--and never did much after that. Despite never having won a professional title in singles, Anna was always among the tour's leading earners in endorsements. (Gee, I wonder why.) She famously dated Russian the two hockey stars pictured here, Pavel Bure and Slava Fedisov. Both experienced declines in their careers after dating Anna.

Disneys Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was first released in 1937. It was the first animated feature film produced by Walt Disney. It was the first full-length animated feature to become widely successful within the English-speaking world, and the first to be filmed in Technicolor. It made its premiere at the Carthay Circle Theater on December 21, 1937, and was released to theaters by RKO Radio Pictures on February 4, 1938. Walt Disney had to literally fight to get the film produced. Both his brother Roy, and his wife, Lillian, attempted to talk him out of it, and the Hollywood movie industry mockingly referred to the film as 'Disney's Folly' while it was in production. He even had to mortgage his house to help finance the film's production, which eventually ran up a total cost of just over $1.5 million, a whopping sum for a feature film in 1937. It has been well documented that Adolf Hitler watched this film with a room full of children, and was delighted by Disney's adaptation of the German fairy tale. In fact, Hitler offered Disney anything he wanted in exchange for Disney's creation of feature-length animated features in Germany. Though this is the basis for the 'Walt Disney is a Nazi' rumors, Disney's biographer Bob Thomas proved that Disney declined Hitler's invitation, and in fact soon entered production on such anti-German projects as 'Der Fuhrer's Face' and 'Victory Through Air Power'.

Last Passenger Pigeon 1914 The decline and extinction of the passenger pigeon is one of the saddest chapters in natural history. When Europeans first arrived in North America passenger pigeons thrived in the billions. In 1800 they were so plentiful that a pair could be bought for just two cents. They lived in enormous flocks that sometimes overspread 300 square miles. However, by the mid-1800s, loss of habitat and the demand for a cheap source of meat doomed the passenger pigeon to extinction. The last accepted wild passenger pigeon was spotted in 1900. The last passenger pigeon in captivity, a female named Martha, died in the Cincinnati Zoo on September 1, 1914.

Yalta Conference 1945 The fate of postwar Europe was decided in 1945 at the Soviet Union resort city of Yalta on the Crimean Sea. With Nazi Germany on the verge of defeat, the leaders of the three major Allied combatant nations met to decide the fate of Germany and eastern Europe. Franklin Roosevelt is visibly ill and weary from the long journey. The British Empire is in decline and Winston Churchill can no longer assert any strength. By default Josef Stalin is given free rein to deal with matters in eastern Europe. The Cold War was about to begin.
