For The Young and the Young at Heart 'Here Comes Peter Cottontail' was a 1971 Easter television special that was based on a 1957 novel by Priscilla and Otto Friedrich entitled 'The Easter Bunny That Overslept', and featured the title song "Here Comes Peter Cottontail". It was originally broadcast on ABC, and in later years, appeared on CBS. In 2006, it was followed by a direct to video sequel, 'Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie'. The name 'Peter Cottontail' is actually a combination of the names of two Beatrix Potter story characters, Cottontail and Peter Rabbit, from the story 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit'. It's a story of how Peter Cottontail became the Easter Bunny.

Timely Death of Bunny Ryan 1979 Elizabeth (Bunny) Ryan was an American tennis star who specialized in doubles. Shown here in a 1923 photo, Ryan won a combined total of 19 women's doubles and mixed doubles titles at Wimbledon from 1914 through 1934. She held the record for most Wimbledon titles until 1979. That year, Billie Jean King was attempting to win her 20th title. King was paired with Martina Navratilova in the women's doubles--and Navratilova was almost unbeatable at that time. King's 20th title was virtually assured--and this did not please 87-year-old Elizabeth Ryan one bit. Ryan constantly snubbed King whenever King tried to approach her. 'She [King] is trying to steal my record,' Ryan told friends. When NBC's Bud Collins tried to arrange an interview with King and Ryan together, Ryan staunchly refused. King and Navratilova did win the 1979 Wimbledon women's doubles title on July 7--but Ryan was not around to see it. It what can only be described as a timely death, Ryan collapsed on the Wimbledon grounds the day before and died.

Bugs Bunny Controversy The last line of the 1954 Bugs Bunny cartoon Bewitched Bunny upset the politically correct crowd in the 1980s. In the final scene Bugs' nemesis, Witch Hazel, is transformed into a beautiful female rabbit through magic but retains her witchy cackle. As Bugs walks off with her he comments, 'Sure, I know, but aren't they all witches inside?' In Canada, censors declared the offhand remark to be misogynistic. In some DVD releases the last line has been changed to, 'Sure, I know, but who wants to be alone on Halloween?'
