here at age 17 (her studio says 16), had her first pin-up photo shot taken. This was taken right after she was in HOLIDAY IN MEXICO in 1946. (PLOT "Ambassador Jeffrey Evans (Walter Pidgeon), a widower living in Mexico, has his hands full with his teenage daughter Christine (Jane Powell). Christine runs the entire household and tries to manage her father's private life as well. But love threatens to wreck all her carefully made plans: an earnest young classmate (Roddy McDowall) is hopelessly in love with her. . .Ambassador Evans is smitten with a beautiful singer (Ilona Massey). . .and poor Christine isn't sure where she fits in anymore! Top top it all off, Christine develops a crush on famed pianist Jose Iturbi, who is much older than she."
TRIVIA: One of several films in which a young Fidel Castro appears as an extra, mostly in crowd scenes.

Here is an outstanding 1998 performance of one of Shirley's signature songs, "Goldfinger" All of her performances are great, but this one is exceptional. At 61, Shirley's pitch and vocal power were right on the mark!! She has sold over 135 million records in her 55 years as a recording artist. In recognition of her career longevity, endurance and a particular admiration from the Royal Family, Bassey was created a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire on Dec 31, 1999 by HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Concert in the Park, August 15, 1991. I love that bass sound! Armand Sabal Lecco on his Alembic can't be beat, not to mention Paul Simon being one of the greatest musicians and writers around.

Joe Cocker - With a Little Help From My Friends. Joe Cocker & The Greaseband performing With a Little Help From My Friends
(NOT @ WOODSTOCK)Recorded in London, it is vintage stuff, and 100 years from its making will no doubt be respected for the historic and studious record that it is.
*****IN DEDICATION, With a Little Help From My Friends - The keyboard player was Chris Stainton, another Sheffield born man (known to his friends as Robin) who went on to tour extensively with Eric Clapton. The bassist was Alan Spenner, who went on to play in the UK white soul outfit Kokomo, with rhythm guitarist Neil Hubbard. Spenner is rumoured to be the first white man to be offered a session job at Motown Records. Drummer Bruce Rowland later joined Fairport Convention from 1975 through 1979. Henry McCullough was the lead guitarist, a role he later occupied in Paul McCartney's Wings, and continues today as a solo artist.

Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds was a 1970s AM soft rock trio from Los Angeles. The original members were Dan Hamilton (guitar/lead vocal), Joe Frank Carollo (bass/vocal), and Tommy Reynolds (multi-instrumentalist/vocal), all of whom had previously played in The T-Bones, a 1960s band noted for the instrumental hit "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)".
The group first hit the charts in 1971 with "Don't Pull Your Love." Reynolds left the group in late 1972, and was replaced by keyboardist Alan Dennison -- however, the band still kept the name "Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds". This revised line-up scored the group's biggest hit, 1975's "Fallin' In Love".
