When I watch some of these clips, I say to myself, 'How can the panel not recognize so-and-so's voice? I'd know it anywhere.' (Art Carney's voice falls into that category.) Then I realize these people were often not yet huge stars. Listen to Bennett Cerf wrongly call Art Carney 'Al.'

Two other things baout this clip: Bennett Cerf makes reference to Jackie Gleason being injured. When this WML episode aired, Gleason had recently broken his leg in a comic pratfall at the end of a skit on his show. Carney had to come out and say goodnight to everyone while Jackie writhed in agony offstage.

If you know the one movie Art Carney had been in prior to 1954, report immediately to the nearest trivia contest! It was Pot O' Gold (1941) starring Jimmy Stewart. Carney made a brief appearance as a radio announcer.
