1950s / Norby - Failed Color Sitcom 1955
Here is the opening montage for the short-lived sitcom Norby, starring David Wayne. It was a rare color sitcom from 1955--a time when very few American households had color televisions. Sponsored by Eastman Kodak who provided the color film, Norby was a family sitcom that followed the life of Pearson Norby (David Wayne), the vice-president of First National Bank in Pearl River, NY. Joan Lorring played Pearson's wife Helen. Susan Hallaran played daughter Diane. Evan Elliott played son Hank. Norby aired Wednesdays at 7 p.m.--a peculiar time slot that many NBC affiliates still reserved for local programming. It debuted on January 5, 1955. The thirteenth and final episode aired on April 6, 1955.
