1903 World Series Photo One of my favorite sports photos. It was taken at Boston's Huntington Avenue Base Ball Grounds sometime during the 1903 World Series. Some captions claim it was taken before the first game. Other captions claim it was taken after the seventh game. Notice the fans standing behind ropes in the outfield. This was a common practise in those days to squeeze more paying customers into sold out games. Special ground rules had to be made to deal with batted balls that flew or rolled into the crowd.
