Gary Glitter Rock n Roll Part 2 "Rock and Roll", also known as "The Hey Song," is a song performed by British glam rocker Gary Glitter that was released in 1972 as a single and on the album Glitter. Co-written by Glitter and Mike Leander, the song is in two parts: Part 1 is a vocal track reflecting on the history of the genre, and Part 2 is a mostly instrumental piece. Both parts were popular in Britain, and the single went to #2 on the British charts. In concert, Glitter merges both into one performance.

In 1999, Glitter was convicted of downloading four thousand images of child pornography in the UK, and was afterwards listed as a sex offender.[4] His reputation was greatly tarnished, and, though he continued releasing new music, Glitter's popularity declined sharply. He was permanently evicted from Cambodia in 2002 for suspected child sexual abuse offences.[5] He afterwards relocated to Vung Tau in Vietnam, and in March 2005 applied for permanent resident status.[6] Later that year, he was arrested by Vietnamese authorities while trying to leave the country, and was tried and convicted of child sexual abuse charges in 2005-06. On appeal in 2007 his three-year sentence was reduced by three months. He was released from prison on August 19, 2008 and returned to London three days later, having been refused entry to other Asian countries.

OMGSH I had no idea this was 70s.

I coached cheerleading for 20 years and this song is a staple in cheerleading.
I thought it was just some random instrumental fight song. LOL

When I saw Gary Glitter I was like...ok I know that name, I think he did something bad. lol

It is a great sadness for me that Paul's life turned out the way it did. When I knew him (I worked for his music company) he was such a nice chap, we used to go shopping for his clothes together and that necklace he is wearing was given to him by me as a good luck charm on his first appearance on TOTP which I accompanied him to.

We lost touch when I left to go and work for David Bowie, but I can honestly say that there was nothing 'weird' about him then. Who knows what happens to people when they experience fame, money, and a have it all lifestyle. Someting went terribly wrong! I don't even recognise him when there are photos of him in the press. It's all very sad and disturbing!
