Ms Dandridge was the star of the 1950's.
I was heart broken when I discovered her circumstances.
Life betrayed her constantly
By her end she was reduced to basic survival. A gross misjustice.
I found it particularly disheartening she died around the time segregation was disbanded.
As Nichelle Nichelles said, she was the queen who opened the door for black actors.
Not only one of the greatest losses, but one of the saddest.
