Britains Morris Minor My dad usually went out on Saturdays to pay his bills, and when he returned, he always surprised us with something! One week, out of the blue, he brought home a canary yellow Morris Minor convertable. We had no idea why he bought it, but he seemed to be happy, pulling in to the driveway with that big smile on his face, like it was Christmas! We had to take turns driving it, then during supper he told us he'd bought it so he could take his grandkids out for a ride on the weekends! He was like a big kid himself. I think that's one of the reasons I miss him so much.

Looks a lot like a VW Bug!

What ever happened to the Sunday drives? We were just talking about that today! I guess we all just take it for granted today!

I was going to add that it did look alot like a VW, it was so small compared to our other cars at that time, the 59 Dodge with the big long fins, and mom's 65 Fairlane. It was almost like a toy!

The opening shot, it really looks like a VW Bug with the fender wells and curved hood. Fender wells, haven't seen a car with those since the VW!!!

Cliffy, I think the Sunday drives we grew up with, became a thing of the past in the mid 70's when gas started being rationed, and after that when it got so high you only used the car to go to work or the grocery store.

Before that we always threw the kids in the back seat and drove all over!
