Mary Tyler Moore takes me back to the winter of 1972. As a 4th grader, I remember this being the time of President Nixon's historic visit to China during the height of his presidential popularity.

One of the many cool TV openings.

One of the all-time great shows. I'd put the last three seasons of MTM up against any sitcom in history. Excellent writing--on par with Cheers and Taxi. Great last episode too. The final scene always brings a tear to my eye.

I prefer the remake of the theme song later in the show. But this sitcom was not what folks think it was about once they come to know how the world works.
