I think this clip is from the Golden Globe Awards. Mickey Rooney accepts an award from Jayne Mansfield and gets more than he bargained for.

The Golden Globes ceremony actually took place in 1957, she was awarded Most Promising Female Newcomer.
Some interesting trivia:
In 1964 she turned down the role of Ginger Grant on Gilligan's Island, claiming that the role, which eventually was given to Tina Louise, epitomized the stereotype she wished to rid herself of.
She had an I.Q. of 163, as well as speaking five languages, and was also a classically trained pianist and violinist but she once admitted her public didn't care about her brains, gee, I wonder why?
She was only 34 when she died. On June 29, 1967, her car crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer that had slowed down because of a truck spraying mosquito fogger. The car struck the rear of the semi and underrode it. All three adults who were in the front seat were killed instantly, but fortunately the children riding in the rear survived with only minor injuries. There have always been rumors that she was decapitated, but that's not true, though she did suffer severe head trauma. Very sad, she left five children.

Biography did a great segment on her.

The first thing I always notice when I see Jayne Mansfield is her high IQ. (Well, maybe it's the second thing I notice.)

What do I think? I think Jayne's fabulous daughter Mariska Hargitay's fantastic work on Law and Order is a tribute to her heritage. As to the video clip, I think the brainy Jayne knew exactly what she was doing and laughed all the way to the bank because of it. Dupes were putty in her hands. They were the dupes. She was the duper. LOL
