Viewers put up with long commercials in those days. I guess TV was still a novelty and no one complained. I have some of Burns and Allen's shows on videotape. They worked the commercials right into the plots of thier shows! No way would viewers tolerate that today!

Just a lot more clever with product placement; Seinfeld's show was filled with them. Most movies too!

I also remember being able to watch at least 20 minutes of a show before a commercial break.
