I love Cheers. I loved Shelley Long in Cheers...

...But her leaving the one of the greatest sitcoms ever rivals McLean Stevenson leaving MASH as one of the dumbest career moves in acting history.

Look at all the past sticom actors since TV started. Your lucky to get just one hit let alone a big hit.

Agreed. Cheers was a dream gig for the actors involved. None had ever been a regular on a sitcom before (although Rhea Perlman had appeared on Taxi two or three times as Louie's girlfriend Zena). It was a credit to the rest of the cast--and the general excellence of the show--that Cheers lasted another six seasons of Shelley Long's departure.

In my opinion, though, Cheers wasn't the same after Long left the cast in 1987. Kirstie Alley's Rebecca Howe was a shallow, one-dimensional character compared to Long's Diane Chambers.

She kinda got on my nerves and welcomed the change.

You preferred Rebecca over Diane? There's no accounting for taste...
