The Cowsills Live HAIR October 17, 1967, the opening of the Broadway musical HAIR. Hair was a product of the hippy counter-culture and sexual revolution of the 1960s, and several of its songs became anthems of the anti-Vietnam War peace movement. The title song was also a hit single for The Cowsills in 1969, and here it is!

Sophia, many many thanks for posting this. With all due respect, though I must point out that Hair opened OFF broadway on October 17, 1967. It was part of Joseph Papp's Public Theater. From there, it moved to a discotechque called The Cheeta IIRC. Hair's Broadway opening was April 29, 1968 at the Biltmore Theater. The Broadway version differed quite a bit from the off broadway version. It had much less story and much more music.

The Cowsill's original version of this song omitted the last stanza. I was surprised that they added it in here. I guess back 1969 they didn't let hit songs have lyrics like my hair like Jesus wore it.
