Child Actress Dawn Lyn Anyone remember her? This is Dawn Lyn, who played Dodie late on the long run of My Three Sons from 1969 to 1972. Dodie was the daughter of Steve Douglas' new wife Barbara. Dodie was generally not well received by fans of the show, who often compare her to the much-hated Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch. Dawn is the sister of Leif Garrett. (She also played Prudence in the pilot episode of Nanny and the Professor. By the time the pilot was picked up by ABC, her contract had expired and she was already a member of the MTS cast.) She currently resides in Germany with her husband.

For you TV sitcom trivia buffs, Dodie's doll was named Myrtle.

Though I make fun of Robbie Rist and Ted McGinley for TV shows tanking because they were added to the cast the REAL blame goes to the network executives who beat a show to death just to get a few more years out of them.

I totally agree with you, Eric. These add-on characters are generally a last desperate grasp to attract new viewers to dying shows.

My Three Sons ran from 1960 through 1972, but by 1970 the magic was clearly gone--and still it brought in decent ratings. The last season was so bad it is not included in syndicated reruns.
