You have to chuckle at the panelists all staring at the departing Miss Welch. It must have been quite a sight.

WML was on its last legs in 1967. Dorothy Kilgallen had died and no suitable permanent replacement had been found. Bennett Cerf was often absent with frequent vacations (something he seldom did during most of WML's run). There wasn't even a regular sponsor advertising on the panel's box at this time. The show's magic was clearly waning.

Let's face it, Kelloggs just wasn't the kind of sponsor you'd expect for a classy show like WML.

The advertising on the panel's box and occasionaly the MC's stand was stopped. I don't know if that was a decision by the network. Today if you watch the pre-game show for like the NFL, the advertising is shown.

I don't know about Kellogg's cereals not being a proper sponsor for classy WML. Kellogg's is a respectable company.

Now if Irving's Bar and Grill was the sponsor, that would be wrong.

Too bad for Bennett Cerf that he was absent from the panel that night. He enjoyed beautiful female contestants!
