Back in 1970, I remember that the incident which led to his death was described as ''horse play'' rather than a fight by the NY media. The DA declined to prosecute becasue of lack of evidence. I read where Sawchuk suffered from depression throughout his life. Yet, he was well liked by the fans and by his teammates.

Very ironic.

Yes, Classico, the horseplay story got a lot of circulation. I have some very good hockey history books that allude to horse play or a friendly wrestling match that killed Terry Sawchuk. Even as a small child (I was six when it happened) I found the story a little hard to believe. Now we know the truth...
