The USAF was previously part of the United States Army, until it was changed to a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947. Here's a tribute to the men and women in the Air Force, as well as others, who risk their lives for us every day. God Bless them all. The music is entitled Wings of Freedom.

This is what the ideal of female beauty was from about 1895 to 1915. It was the Gibson Girl look--named after artist Charles Dana Gibson. His drawings often illustrated magazine stories of the era. They were likely the first type of mass media to influence the perception of what feminine beauty is. The stereotypical Gibson Girl was tall, had an extreme hourglass figure, with her hair (preferably curly) piled atop her head in a bouffant, pompadour, or chignon style. This photo is of stage actress Camille Clifford who epitomized the Gibson Girl look.

Bette Midler singing 'The Rose' live from Divine Madness at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in 1980. A great show and a great performance. Her three classics (Wind Beneath My Wings, From a Distance and The Rose), will always be a part of pop culture... No one can sing it like Bette!

The silent war film Wings (1927) was the first movie to win the best picture Oscar. Gary Cooper had a small part, playing an air cadet named White who briefly interacts with the film's two males leads (Richard Arlen and Buddy Rogers) before crashing his plane.

Cartoon Network PG? I've found numerous racists and politically incorrect cartoons no longer shown.I recall seeing some in the 60s I truely beleive It did not tarnish me.It never connected .I thought of cartoons as something neither true or real,they're drawings;not people?

I can hear Cathy now....'so sappy!!' lol Yes, I agree, but it's also a beautiful tribute that expresses how fortunate we are when we have one friend who is always there to love us and accept us, even when we screw up. This is for that friend.
