Jethro dBodine Although not a major character, actress Sharon Tate, who was slain by the Manson Family in 1969, had a recurring role during the early years of the series. Tate appeared in a dark wig as Janet, an assistant to Miss Hathaway at the Commerce Bank.

Donna Douglas in 2007 Babs64 wanted to know what Donna Douglas (Elly Mae Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies) was up to today. Well, brace yourself, Babs, here she is! This unflattering photo of her was taken at a 2007 parade in Tennessee where she was the grand marshal. Donna Douglas is 74 years old. Twice divorced, she lives in Baton Rouge and keeps herself occupied by working for various Christian children's charities. She also makes many public appearances dressed as Elly Mae Clampett. (Geez, I hope that's a wig she's wearing.)

Twiggy The scrawny modern supermodel originated with Twiggy, a British model, in 1967. Her real name was Lesley Hornby. She weighed just 90 pounds and had measurements of 31-23-32. Her 27-year-old boyfriend/manager, Nigel Davies, skilfully packaged Hornby as Twiggy, and within months she became the world's top fashion model, appearing in Vogue and Elle magazines before taking New York by storm. Twiggy's cropped haircut (shorter than most boys wore at the time) made her something of an androgynous figure. Her trademark was to paint eyelashes on her lower lids. These became known as Twiggies. Over the years, Twiggy's exceedingly slim figure was blamed for the rise in anorexia cases. Depite her fame, Twiggy remained humble and true to her East London roots. She once told Life Magazine, 'I know I'm not beautiful or glam. But with me funny face, me funny skirts, and me funny accent, somehow it combined to work out just lovely.'

Little Rock desegregation 1957 This is another iconic image of the 50’s segregation period. Elizabeth Eckford is one of the African American students known as the Little Rock Nine. On September 4, 1957, she and eight other African American students attempted to enter Little Rock Central High School, which had previously only accepted white students. They were stopped at the door by Arkansas National Guard troops called up by Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus. They tried again without success to attend Central High on September 23, 1957. The next day, September 24, President Dwight D. Eisenhower sent U.S. Army troops to accompany the Little Rock Nine to school for protection. The thing is… she is not the subject of the photograph. Will Counts, the photographer shot Hazel Massery, the white girl shouting in front of the man. 40 years later she apologized to Elisabeth...
