Soap Box Racing Now here's a real childhood memory for me. Locally we called these Bogies or carts, which was a bit confusing as this could also mean something else. A set of old pram wheels a couple of planks of wood, a bit of rope and of coarse a soap box or a crate of some kind. You then had the makings of some great fun and a quick way to accept pain. Tell the kids of today about this and you get that well practised blank expression.

Movie Legends Jane Russell Jane Russell was born Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell in Minn on June 21, 1921. She first became interested in drama in high school, and in 1940, was signed to a seven year contract by millionaire Howard Hughes, who arranged for her motion picture debut in The Outlaw (1943), a story about Billy the Kid that went to great lengths to showcase her voluptuous figure. Although the movie was completed in 1941, it was released for a limited showing two years later. There were problems with the censorship of the production code over the way her ample cleavage was displayed. When the movie was finally passed, it had a general release in 1946. Together with Lana Turner and Rita Hayworth, Russell personified the sensuously contoured sweater girl look and became a popular pin-up with Service men during World War II. She went on to perform in an assortment of roles, which included playing Calamity Jane in The Paleface (1948); Mike Delroy in Son of Paleface (1952), Gentlemen Marry Blondes,The Revolt of Mamie Stover, Fate is the Hunter and many more. Though her screen image was that of a sex goddess, her private life lacked the sensation and scandal that followed other actresses of the time, such as Lana Turner. Although in her autobiography, Jane admitted that she had survived two attempted rapes un-harmed, that her first marriage had been speckled with adultery and violence, and that she had been an alcoholic since she was a teenager. She also revealed that in addition to this, however, she was also a born-again Christian, which was one of the things that had helped her cope. Jane Russell currently lives on the Central Coast of California.

Colonel Sanders on Whats My Line I don't know if Lava1964 already posted this WML yet, but this one amazed me, not for the fact that Colonel Sanders was a guest, but it wasn't a blindfold segment. I guess even famous people had days when they were only known to their friends and family. This clip is from 1963, the year before he sold his American franchises.

Wuthering Heights 1939 This scene is from the classic film Wuthering Heights. It starred Sir Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. I first watched this with my mom when I was probably 9-10, but it left an impression on me to this day and I find myself watching it over and over whenever it's on. You can usually find it on AMC or TCM. This scene shows Cathy and Heathcliffe together on the Moors.

Young Frankenstein 1974 Mel Brooks is a comedic genius and this film proves it. It was actually filmed in the same castle as the original Frankenstein classic, and starred Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Madeleine Kahn,Teri Garr, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars, and Gene Hackman. If you haven't seen it you're missing out on one of the funniest films of our generation.

The Prisoner The Prisoner is a 1967 UK television series starring Patrick McGoohan as Englishman who, after resigning from his position as a top-level government agent, is held captive in a small, colourful village for reasons only hinted at to him (or viewers). Each episode typically features the imprisoned former agent, known as "Number Six", failing to escape "the Village", but resisting the interrogation and brainwashing attempts by his captors. Patrick McGoohan`s catch phrase became well known..."I am not a number I am a free man!" i do not know if this hit the US tv`s

Prisoner Cell Block H Prisoner Cell Block H is an Australian television soap opera . It was set in Wentworth Detention Centre, a women's prison. Because of its success in the United Kingdom, the series has become one of the most enduring in Australian television history. The series was produced by the Reg Grundy Organisation and ran on Network Ten for 692 episodes from 1979 to 1986. i myself used to laugh at the ever moving, wobbly cardboard walls.
