Barbara Jill Walters was born September 25, 1929. She is an American journalist, writer and media personality who has been a regular fixture on morning television shows (Today and The View), an evening news magazine (20/20), and on The ABC Evening News as the first female evening news anchor. Walters was first known as a popular TV morning news anchor for over 10 years on NBC's Today, where she worked with Hugh Downs and later hosts Frank McGee and Jim Hartz. Walters later spent over 20 years as co-host of ABC's newsmagazine 20/20. She was the first woman to co-anchor the network evening news, working with Harry Reasoner on The ABC Evening News.
With all due respect to Ms Walters, I just couldn't help myself with this one.

Michael Todd breezed into Elizabeth Taylor's life on June 23, 1956....and sadly breezed out just as quickly on March 22, 1958. But during their time together, they accumulated a lifetime worth of memories. They traveled all over the world promoting the Mike Todd spectacularly produced Oscar winning, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, as well as promoting Elizabeth's movie epics, GIANT and RAINTREE COUNTRY.
They married in Mexico in February 1957, days after Elizabeth obtained her divorce from second husband, Michael Wilding.
Mike's death devastated Elizabeth to the point of propelling her into a state of self destruction when she did not care if she lived or died. In fact, she had to come close to death (herself) before appreciating living again. Mike and Elizabeth's love story is a special one...and their time together was so very short but so very potent. Elizabeth, today, claims he was one of the great loves of her life ...

In this 1995 interview with Barbara Walters, Monica Seles talks about being the victim of the most horrifying incident in sports--when a deranged tennis fan stabbed her in the back during a changeover at the German Open in Hamburg in 1993. The perpetrator was a lunatic named Gunter Parsche. Parsche was an obsessed Steffi Graf fan who resented Seles ursurping Graf as the top female player on the WTA circuit. Parsche was deemed not mentally responsible for the crime and was given a suspended sentence. Seles spent over $1 million in legal fees in an unsuccessful attempt to sue the German Tennis Federation for lax security. Seles never did completely regain her dominant form. In her absence Graf vaulted to the top spot in women's tennis. Thus Parsche's demented plot worked as he had planned.

Earlier I posted a clip from a 1995 Barbara Walters interview with Monica Seles in which Seles discussed the enduring psychological effects of being stabbed on court by a deranged tennis fan. This haunting Sports Illustrated cover photo from 1993 shows a shocked Seles moments after the stabbing.

How many recall April 1980, just prior to the scheduled 52 annual golden man trophies?
It was the last of its kind, just before "talkative" Walters celebrity interviews became the rage. Incidently, "Kramer vs. Kramer" was the winner of the night.
For many, it was an incredibly rememorable night, unlike any other then, as many people were talking about it all-morning the next day.
Does that happen now? Gathering together, you would've seen Peaches and Herb, A.Gibb, and G. Kelly, being entertaining in a movie-land setting. Around that time, Olivia and Kelly were about to come out with a hyped flick. Also that night, you would've glimpsed Carpenter, Richard, and Turner. Not enough? Well, there was D.Clark, the ever popular weatherman, T. Knight, and Mister John, Mrs. Tennille, all caught up together in a one-time-only event that is still remembered today.
Very cool.
