Pierre Trudeau Just Watch Me This 1970 clip of Canadian prime minister Pierre Trudeau is probably unknown to Americans, but it's very famous in Canada. In October 1970, a radical French-Canadian separatist group, the FLQ, began a reign of terror in the province of Quebec. James Cross, a visiting British diplomat, was kidnapped. Shortly afterward, Pierre Laporte, a Quebec cabinet minister, was also kidnapped. (Laporte's dead body was found a few days later.) Prime minister Trudeau responded by invoking Canada's War Measures Act which gave the government extraordinary powers to preserve order. The civil libertarians didn't like it, but it was the most popular thing Trudeau ever did. Watch him as he fields questions from a left-leaning TV reporter.

Dean Martin Sings his Old Classic 'That's Amore' became a major hit for Dean in 1953. And it was introduced to a whole new generation when Martin's original version was played as the opening theme song for the award-winning 1987 movie, 'Moonstruck', starring Cher, Nicholas Cage, Olympia Dukakis and Vincent Gardenia.

Mona Lisa Stolen 1911 This is what remained of the Mona Lisa in The Louvre after it was stolen on August 21, 1911--four metal hooks on a wall. The famous painting was missing until December 1913 when an Italian, Vincenzo Peruggia, tried to sell it to a museum in his own country. Peruggia was portrayed as a patriotic Italian who wanted to return the Mona Lisa to his homeland. However, the real story of the painting's theft did not come out for years. Peruggia actually stole the Mona Lisa for an Argentine art forger who had already made six passable copies of it. When the theft became public news, the forger had no use for the real painting. Instead he sold the six copies to six different gullible art fans for extraordinary sums, each buyer believing he had bought the true Da Vinci masterpiece. During the 27 months the painting was missing, Peruggia had kept it in a trunk under his bed in his apartment not far from The Louvre. He was waiting for instructions from the art forger that never came. Eventually Peruggia tried to sell the original painting himself and was promptly arrested.

Ontario Anti Smoking Poster When the Canadian province of Ontario was debating outlawing smoking in restaurants and bars, this was one of the posters it used. The argument was that wait staff, cooks, bartenders, and so on, deserve a smoke-free environment. It worked. Ontario has gone completely smoke-free in bars and restaurants.

Im the Greatest Star from Funny Girl Great scene! Fanny Brice (Barbra Streisand) tries to convince her boss that he should give her a chance because even though she isn't beautiful she has a lot of talent. My lifelong dream has always been that I could have seen Barbra doing this on the stage production.

Scream Queen Hazel Court Dies at 82 Hazel Court, an English actress who co-starred with the likes of Boris Karloff and Vincent Price in popular horror movies of the 1950s and '60s, has died. She was 82. Court died early Tuesday of a heart attack at her home near Lake Tahoe, daughter Sally Walsh said Wednesday. While she had a substantial acting career both in England and on American TV, Court was perhaps best known for her work in such films as 1963's "The Raven." She co-starred with Price, Karloff and Peter Lorre in director Roger Corman's take on the classic Edgar Allan Poe poem. Corman directed her in five movies. Like other "scream queens" of the era, Court often relied on her cleavage and her ability to shriek in fear and die horrible deaths for her roles. "The Premature Burial,""The Masque of the Red Death,""The Curse of Frankenstein" and "Devil Girl from Mars" helped propel her to cult status and brought her fan mail even in her later years. 'She'd probably get over 100 pieces of fan mail a month and she would reply to every single one,' her daughter said. Court had finished an autobiography, "Hazel Court - Horror Queen," which will be published in Britain.
