The Tinkertoy Construction Set was created in 1914—one year after the A. C. Gilbert Company's Erector Set—by Charles H. Pajeau and Robert Pettit in Evanston, Illinois. Pajeau, a stonemason, designed the toy after seeing children play with pencils and empty spools of thread. He and Pettit set out to market a toy that would allow and inspire children to use their imaginations...

Craig Powerplay car stereo ad featuring Billy Preston. . . and i HATE to admit that i didn't know who he was!! i just liked the car and the 'do'!! but here's a little info on him:
William Everett Preston (September 2, 1946 – June 6, 2006) was an American soul musician from Houston, Texas, raised mostly in Los Angeles, California. In addition to his successful, Grammy-winning career as a solo artist, Preston collaborated with some of the greatest names in the music industry, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Little Richard, Ray Charles, George Harrison, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, Sammy Davis Jr., Sly Stone, Aretha Franklin, the Jackson 5, Quincy Jones, Richie Sambora, and Red Hot Chili Peppers... MAN!! what a gig!

At this time in his life, I think Elvis was at his best. This song was widely regarded as the single that jump-started his career after his successful '68 Comeback Special. It was his eighteenth number-one single in the United States. Rolling Stone later ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Not bad for a country boy from Mississippi.

Just in case you're too young to remember Mick Jagger when he wasn't old enough for SS, here's the Rolling Stones' 1966 appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Hey Baby Boomers! Remember tonette’s? Precursor of the recorder, which in itself. is a misnomer. (It doesn’t record anything.) I think I received mine in the 5th or 6th grade. We all had to buy our own and my parents bought me a fire engine red one. (My sister got a green one ‘cause she said it looked like a pickle.) I can remember playing ”Jolly Ol’ St. Nicholas” at a school Christmas concert one year. All the boys had to wear black pants, black shoes, white long-sleeved shirt and a black bowtie. (Older is better!)
