White Diamonds: Elizabeth Taylor From 1950 to 1991, the woman went through more than most. In time, she left most to wonder what she'd be doing next? Often increasing criticisms were mentioned to her for being the way she was, yet as a person in life, she had eventually raised enough for charitie that would make her criticizers blush for weeks. In the early nineties, she teamed up with another highly-successful woman, who you could say gave her some happiness by being a persuading face for a unique scent that smelt like a bunch of flowers. She went throught it all with a brave smile as the harsh marital life she lived though was nothing but disappointing. Through it all, she collected enough mementos to make a woman like herself even more famous than those who never got a chance. *E*

Pay Toilets The first pay toilet in the United States was installed in 1910 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Pay toilets were prevalent in restaurants and other public buildings until the mid-1970s. However, a campaign by the Committee to End Pay Toilets In America (CEPTIA) resulted in laws prohibiting them in cities and states--legislation that was widely applauded by the public. In 1973, Chicago became the first American city to enact a pay-toilet ban. At the time, according to the Wall Street Journal, there were at least 50,000 units in America, mostly made by the Nik-O-Lok Company. CEPTIA was successful over the next few years in obtaining bans in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, California, Florida and Ohio. Lobbying was successful in other states as well, and by decade's end, pay toilets were greatly reduced in America. However, they are surprisingly still in use in some places. Many people would be shocked to learn that pay toilets are once again legal as the CEPTIA-inspired bans from the 1970s have been repealed in many jurisdictions.

North American Soccer League The North American Soccer League was supposed to be the 'next big thing' in sports. It lasted 17 seasons but it failed to dislodge the traditional team sports from their longtime perch as fan favorites. The league began in 1968 with the merger of two small pro leagues and lasted until 1984. At the peak of the NASL's popularity in the late 1970s, it had 24 teams. The New York Cosmos (who featured Pele and Franz Beckenbauer on their roster) sometimes drew 70,000 fans to Giants Stadium. However, the league average never exceeded 15,000 fans per game and some teams struggled to draw 5,000. By its last season, the NASL had dwindled to nine teams. By the time the final NASL game was played between the Chicago Sting and Toronto Blizzard, only three teams were solvent. To Europeans, the NASL was perceived as soccer's version of an elephants' graveyard where players long past their primes could extend their careers for sizable money. The Euro stars, despite their diminishing skills, accounted for large chunks of teams' payrolls that could have been better spent fostering North American talent. Traditionalists were also put off by the NASL's gimmicks to Americanize the sport: a liberalized offside rule, game clocks that counted downward instead of upward, penalty shootouts to break ties, and a crazy points system that rewarded goals scored as well as wins. In the end, the NASL managed to alienate traditional soccer fans while failing to attract new ones.

Viva Knievel! - 1977 Theater Preview Were you one of those juvenile kids who tried to copy a hero back then? He was pretty popular with his "keyed-in" event-filled acts. Did you look for how he did it? Did you show others of what you were capable of on a bike? Sure, of course, all in front of your shocked neighbours. Man, you need competence to do it. Unfortunately, he passed on at the age of sixty-nine in '07. EK had been struggling with many problems, even going into surgery more than most. As told, EK inspired lots of kids. He had converted his jumping talents into being an "all-ready-to-go" world famous showman. This was his job and he had fun with it - every time. It worked great for him. I will assume that you all know about the other good bio-flick that starred George Hamilton. It was released in the beginning of the Seventies. Of course, this had been changed up a bit with Hamilton. One good thing about it was, the popular cyclist, EK, he had worked as the advisor on the bio. In the story, there was a stuntman involved when called for at anytime. It was an impressive fact given that EK didn't stop for years. Truly, it was a picture for those that enjoyed the talented performer who was on top at the time. *E*

Squeeze: 1980 Ever thought of the past recently? I did, and I am sure a lot of you have done as well. Remember a rising bunch of men who have changed over the years with 14 discs? Long before, with a few ideas, they tried changing names before coming to a decision that was memorable to this day. At their earlier years, they were working to get-together, way back in those Nineteen Seventies, all for particularly important reasons that would create a stir, especially in the mid-eighties. For these reasons, the continuing support is amazing. *E*

November 1980: A Flop of a Picture Some still considered it a big mess of needless complications due to a long slog of details and perfection. Now, just thinking about it, it may even bring back a few thoughts about where you were at the time. Does it? The long-story is set with a struggling, unreasonable dispute that involved a cattle baron, with wandering immigrants from the roots of Europe's past; now settled in a remote part of the American West. So what happened to it? It was cited for the unbelievable implications it brought on. Ah, those were the compilations. Yeah, they were deplorable. One that definitely stood out, the fact of a quick-gained reputation for being a control freak, all added with the second fact, the costs were averaging a much larger amount than first anticipated. To be precise, it becoming best-known as front-page news for a longer time than it should of been. And an embarrassment of bad communications to all parties involved. How can you communicate to someone if there is a locked door involved? Just trying to balance it all was the most difficult part of it. At the same time, things really shifted for those involved behind the scenes - in a bad, bad way. As one of the most pressing conflicts about it was the survival for the financing involved. It didn't turn out well. Everything floundered as months went on. A real turning point had begun because of that. The entire system that was developed then dramatically changed to more controlling interventions from behind anxious doors. A manic mentality with a desperate sense to complete it had been hard to let go from their end. It was clear early on that, it was impossible to recover the shameful display of waste; all which contributed to the fussy onset of remaining true to a vision with different interpretations being suggested in taking it over with a backlash against the one man responsible. It eventually saw the projected light, but this was many months later. Though shown at just under 150 minutes, not the intended run of just over five slow-moving hours. However, much of the feedback regarding it has changed for the picture that was judged too fast then. Soon after, Michael's efforts were acknowledged as better than what was said about it then when the incomplete story was inappropriately played under much pressure. From then on, the entire spoken context of it had been transferred back intact for positive judgements by other means. I'm referring to the home market that was quickly moving in. This paved the way at proving that it was distinctly different without his hard work being incoherently marred-up by pressures. On the other end, unfortunately, all things were not good as a new element had begun by barring future developments for its company. It had runned itself way down. This due to the critical position that others were put in at that time because of the original shot-lived perpetrator. A real ridiculous mess of upsets. Do you know of another example that may of been inferior to what it really could of been? It hasn't really been compared to anything much since. Or has it? After some time, Michael continued to be restricted on further projects, with being handed a few second chances at. *E*
