check out this pic of a teenaged Sally Field in 1966 at Whisky a-Go-Go . . . The Whisky played an important role in many musical careers, especially for bands based in Southern California. The Byrds, Alice Cooper, Buffalo Springfield and Love were regulars, and The Doors were the house band for a while . . .

In concert 1970 with the environmentalist "Big Yellow Taxi". Joni Mitchell, was born Roberta Joan Anderson on November 7, 1943, in Fort Macleod, Alberta. She is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. Her
singing began in small nightclubs and busking on the streets of Toronto and in her native Western Canada. She subsequently became associated with the fast growing folk music scene of the mid-1960s in New York City. Later, while she was playing one night in "The Gaslight South", a club in Florida, David Crosby walked in and was immediately struck by her ability and her appeal as an artist. He took her back to Los Angeles, where he set about introducing her and her music to his friends. Mitchell achieved fame in the late 1960's and was considered a key part of the Southern California folk rock scene. Throughout the 1970's, she explored and combined the pop and jazz genres. She's amassed a body of work that is highly respected by both critics and fellow musicians.

Actress Ann Sothern was the mystery challenger on this episode of What's My Line. Note that her last name is misspelled as 'Southern' on her nameplate. That's a little on the embarrassing side, don't you think?

There is information here on Capt George Wallace (second from left), who was my husband Larry's great-great uncle. Capt. George D. Wallace, native of York, SC, son of Congressman Alexander Stuart Wallace and wife Nancy Lee Ratchford and 1872 graduate of West Point was the first Southerner to graduate after the War Between the States. He served first in his home state of South Carolina with the 7th Cavalry. When Indian problems increased and Reconstruction troubles were reduced all of the 7th Cavalry were sent to the Northern Indian problems, involving Sioux, Cheyenne, Nez Perce and others. It's interesting to note that his brother fought with the Confederacy.
The rest of the information on this photo is in the comments section.

Glen Campbell sings his 1977 number one single from the country and pop charts. Jerry Reed joins Glen onstage.
Remember Jerry was a regular for awhile on Glen's Goodtime Hour show. Both are VERY talented individuals.

I’m a transplanted yankee from the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn NY . I’ve lived in Florida since I was 8, when my family dragged my sister and I out of B’kln and down to Miami…..but I’m NOT a Florida Cracker! I’ll be a Yankee until my dying day and proud of it. My blood is comprised of 60% olive oil, and 40% chicken soup. In June of ’65 I graduated from High School and met my husband Larry, who was a radar operator for the USAF, a few months later, and the rest is history..we’ve been married for 42 years and have three great kids: David, Jessica and Kimberly. My first job after graduation was as an operator with Southern Bell , when you could actually dial 0 or 411 and get a live person. Over the years (before I retired) I worked mostly secretarial jobs, my longest being at the University of Florida, and my last being at a correctional facility for youthful offenders. In 1980 I had an editorial column in our local paper, which lasted a few years. I’m mother to a 100lb golden retriever named Buddy-Beans, a 25 yr old cockatiel named Beeper and at least 500 wild birds and other assorted wildlife that I feed and spoil on 8 ½ acres that we call “Clackum’s Corner”. Even though I was raised in the city, I love living in the country now and could never go back to the noise! I’ve been an animal lover ever since I was a child, and I’m now referred to by the neighbors as that crazy bird lady! After my family, my greatest pleasures are wildlife photography and writing.

Few sights in nature can compare to the sheer magnificence of a volcano erupting in full flow.
But while scenes of molten lava are relatively commonplace, this otherworldly picture of Chaiten Volcano in southern Chile shows a truly spectacular, and devastating, volcanic phenomenon.
