Undoubtedly Eaton's most famous role was that of Jill Masterson in the 1964 James Bond film GOLDFINGER. Her character's death, being painted head to toe in gold paint and suffering "skin suffocation", became an iconic image of the film and inadvertently led to the creation of a popular belief concerning both the method of death and the actress' own fate. Eaton, very much alive, later appeared in a 2003 episode of the TV documentary series MythBusters to help debunk the belief. . .

Perhaps some of you may remember "Willie and Joe." The two World War II infantry grunts created by Bill Mauldin. His famous infantrymen cartoons were featured in "Stars and Stripes," the American soldier's newspaper. The cartoons would depict life as the average American soldier
would live it during wartime. Some were comical,
others brought home the ugliness and tragedies of war. He didn't get along very well with most officers because would poke fun at them in his cartoons. This would irritate the younger officers and some older ones alike. Gen. George Patton
wanted him to stop drawing his cartoons but apparently the morale of the American soldier and the popularity of the cartoons and the good effect that "Willie and Joe" had on it won out even over
the General's wishes. These two cartoons came from the first collection of his work compiled in a book alled, "Up Front," which was a best-seller.
At age 23 he won the Pulitzer Prize. That was in 1945. He was assigned to the 45th infantry division, and was wounded by a shell fragment in Anzio for which he receive the Purple Heart. He also made the cover of Time Magazine in 1958.
Bill passed away in 2003 at the age of 81. Bill Mauldin was a great American!

In 1965, the Sir Douglas Quintet was formed and the group's name was chosen in an effort to make the band seem British to benefit from the British invasion. This image had its problems, particularly Doug Sahm's Texas accent and that two fifths of the band were of Mexican origin. The band had a top 20 US hit with the song "She's About a Mover" and a number of lesser hit over the years. The SDQ broke up after a bust for marijuana possession in Corpus Christi, TX, and Doug moved to San Francisco, forming the Honkey Blues Band before reforming the new SDQ with a new lineup was resigned and they released the successful single and album "Mendocino". The record contained the song "At the Crossroad" with the legendary Doug Sahm line "You just can't live in Texas if you don't have a lot of soul".

The trailer of Joseph Leo Mankiewicz's classic with Rex Harrison and the dazzlingly beautiful actress Gene Tierney....The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" gave its star, Gene Tierney, one of the best roles of her career, after "Laura". she had the fragility to portray Lucy Muir, the plucky young widow who decides to move to the coast against her in-laws wishes. The idea of the film plays well as it unfolds because obviously, what she is experiencing is all in her mind. Rex Harrison's Capt. Daniel Gregg was also one of his best opportunities as a leading man in the movies. He's perfect as the crusty old seaman that refuses to abandon his beloved home overlooking a beautiful view of the sea. Mr. Harrison plays well opposite Ms. Tierney; their chemistry works well because it combines his rugged good looks and her beauty.

And, when i was a kid. . myself and two other little girls lip-synched and did a little performace of this song . .we ALWAYS thought the words were "JUST CROSS MY STREET BEFORE YOU LEAVE ME, BABY!" and not "JUST TOUCH MY CHEEK BEFORE YOU LEAVE ME, BABY!" lol . . .it sounded right as we sang into our hair brushes!

The scrawny modern supermodel originated with Twiggy, a British model, in 1967. Her real name was Lesley Hornby. She weighed just 90 pounds and had measurements of 31-23-32. Her 27-year-old boyfriend/manager, Nigel Davies, skilfully packaged Hornby as Twiggy, and within months she became the world's top fashion model, appearing in Vogue and Elle magazines before taking New York by storm. Twiggy's cropped haircut (shorter than most boys wore at the time) made her something of an androgynous figure. Her trademark was to paint eyelashes on her lower lids. These became known as Twiggies. Over the years, Twiggy's exceedingly slim figure was blamed for the rise in anorexia cases. Depite her fame, Twiggy remained humble and true to her East London roots. She once told Life Magazine, 'I know I'm not beautiful or glam. But with me funny face, me funny skirts, and me funny accent, somehow it combined to work out just lovely.'

The most valuable sports card in the world features Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Honus Wagner. Printed by the American Tobacco Company in 1910, the card is quite rare. Only about 60 are known to exist. Their scarcity can be attributed to Wagner himself. A non-smoker, Wagner objected to his likeness being used to promote tobacco. The company acquiesced to Wagner's wishes and withdrew the card from production--but not before a number had entered the market. The most splendid example of the Wagner Card sold at auction in February 2007 for $2.35 million.
