Scam I just read a new twist on an old trick. This time they are using a Mystery Shopper ploy. Here is how they go: You receive a check in the mail, often times a cashier's check that looks very real. It is always made out for a large amount, they tell you to cash it and send the difference back to them. The problem is the check will bounce, you will be liable for the money and penalties and you just mailed real money to the crooks. In this case they are send out $4,000 checks, telling you to spend $600 on start up expenses and a few test purchases. When you fill out the paperwork on this test you are to send them the $3,400 to them to see if you qualify as a mystery shopper.

RCAF Flyers - 1948 Olympic Hockey Champions The Winter Olympics certainly have grown in prestige over the years. Compare today's preparations to what they were in the 1940s. Here is the story of the ragtag 1948 Olympic hockey gold medallists from Canada. Canada had originally planned not to send a team to the Winter Olympic Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland, but the Herculean efforts of one man and his connections to the Royal Canadian Air Force got things done. In the end, the RCAF squad surprised their many critics. They went undefeated in the eight-game round-robin tourney and outscored their opponents 69-5. This mini feature was created 40 years later by CBC sports. It aired during the network's coverage of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.

Judy Collins Send in the Clowns This clip is from a concert at the Paul Masson Summer Series, near San Jose, California, in July, 1991. Judy Collins is well known all over the world as an American folk and standards singer and songwriter, known for the stunning purity of her soprano, for her eclectic tastes in the material she records, which has included folk, showtunes, pop, and rock and roll. Like many other folk singers of her generation, Collins was drawn to social activism. She is a representative for UNICEF and campaigns on behalf of the abolition of landmines.

Jack Dempsey Vs Jess Willard This is the last half of the first round of Jack Dempsey's title-winning effort against huge world heavyweight champion Jess Willard. The date was July 4, 1919. The site was Toledo, Ohio. Watch as Dempsey lands a perfect left hook that sends Willard crumbling to the canvas. The brave champ rises and gets knocked down six more times before he's saved by the bell. (There was no neutral-corner rule or mandatory eight count in 1919.) Incredibly, Willard survived two more punishing rounds--without being knocked down again--before quitting in his corner at the end of the third round. Men were men back in those days!

Coleco Electric Football Ad 1971 A school chum of mine had this game. It was very disappointing. The electric vibrations would send the players scattering in all directions. You really couldn't play it.
