Here's a show from the 1976 "Johnny Cash & Friends" summer series, with Johnny & June engaging in some humorous dialogue (comparing themselves to Sonny & Cher; June doesn't have a navel?) and then performing their signature song "Jackson". Johnny really hams it up in this performance. Also, notice Johnny's reaction when it seems June gives him a playful kick. And check out the kiss at the end! Good days to remember,

Paul Williams wrote the soundtrack for a generation. His songs were everywhere in the 1970s -- you could hear them on the radio, television, movies, and The Muppets. The simple honesty of his lyrics still captures attention and spurs the imagination. This song, The Rainbow Connection seems to fit him so well. Happy Birthday Paul Williams, you've given us happy memories!

Evelyn Couch (Kathy Bates) is having trouble in her marriage, and no one seems to take her seriously. While in a nursing home visiting relatives, she meets Ninny Threadgoode (Jessica Tandy), an outgoing old woman, who tells her the story of Idgie Threadgoode, a young woman in 1920's Alabama. Through Idgie's inspiring life, Evelyn learns to be more assertive and builds a lasting friendship of her own with Ninny. This film should be required viewing for any woman over 30. Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy are both outstanding and unforgettable.

She has always been one of my favorite actresses and I think she's one of the most underrated and overlooked actresses of her generation. Kim Novak was a unique phenomenon. As the last of the "manufactured" screen goddesses and Columbia's answer to Marilyn Monroe, Kim had a more refined sex appeal than the other blond goddesses of the 1950's. She radiated a kind of mystery that harked back to the days of Garbo and Dietrich. Onscreen Kim Novak seems distant, enigmatic, thoughtful and somehow sad. She has been referred to as the reluctant goddess, the melancholy blonde and the lavender blonde. The studio created the idea that lavender was Kim Novak's favorite color as part of her movie star image. However, I think the term Lavender Blonde fits Kim Novak - it sets her apart from the sunny Doris Day or the gilded Marilyn Monroe. Lavender is closer to blue - makes you think of Madeleine in Vertigo, lost in thought by the seashore.

I myself can't remember this kind of scene but it seems that most major cities in the UK. are thinking of going back to using Trams as a quick and cheap form of public transport.

Song "I Finally Found Someone" by Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams. Nowadays, Hollywood fans have regarded Hepburn's lifelong romance with Spencer Tracy as an example of true love even though they never married. Although there must have been true love between them, their romance was far from being a Cinderella story. For most of the years that she spent with him, he was also an alcoholic, at times launching abusive rants before blacking out. For years at a time, Hepburn would help him dry out, arranging her professional life around his needs……..Near the end of Tracy's life Hepburn all but quit working to nurse him through repeated illnesses."
Hepburn defended her affair saying, "We just passed 27 years together, in what was to me absolute bliss." And how did Tracy feel about their romance? Believe it or not, it seems he never talked about it because he refused to admit it actually existed. Even when Hepburn rushed to his side when he was hospitalized before he passed on, Tracy referred to her as a wonderful friend. Tracy never allowed the two of them to be photographed together except for a movie they both starred in. We are told that the reason for this is that Tracy was a devout Catholic and was married to another woman, had children and did not want to offend his children, or wife. The love relationship of Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy was an example of both heartbreak and true love.

This song, recorded by The Beatles in 1968, and originally titled 'Hey Jules', was written by McCartney to comfort John Lennon's son, Julian, during his parents' divorce. Julian discovered the song had been written for him almost twenty years later. He remembered being closer to McCartney than to his father: 'Paul and I used to hang about quite a bit more than Dad and I did. We had a great friendship going and there seems to be far more pictures of me and Paul playing together at that age than there are pictures of me and my dad.' Although McCartney originally wrote the song for Julian, John thought it had actually been written for him: 'I always heard it as a song to me. If you think about it... Yoko had just come into the picture. He's saying. 'Hey, Jude—Hey, John.' I know I'm sounding like one of those fans who reads things into it, but you can hear it as a song to me. Subconsciously, he was saying, 'Go ahead, leave me.' On a conscious level, he didn't want me to go ahead at all.'
