Ideal Toys introduced Clancy in 1962 and sales took off! Even grouchy old coots would crack a smile watching Clancy in action!!! Toss a coin in Clancy's hat and he'll skate towards you, or you could hold his hand and he'd skate as you walked along. Another GREAT Ideal toy. Like the jingle says, "It's a Wonderful Toy, It's IDEAL!"

Pretty funny but I'd like to hear what the women say. Every woman I've ever met says she hates the three stooges.

Here is a '57 Chevy AM/FM radio/cassette player from the '80's. The front hood opens to insert the cassette and the rear trunk opens to hold the batteries and AC cord. The headlights are the speakers, the windshield is the carrying handle and the antenna is, well, the antenna. The front driving lights light up when the unit is on. The front license plate says "RANDIX '57 Chevy." It was marketed by the RANDIX Co. but was manufactured in China! (It's probably been giving out melamine rays all these years!) I actually bought this at a Toys "R" Us. For those of you who watch reruns of "Home Improvement," you might have noticed one of these sitting on the shelf of the "Tool Time" set. (One of my favorite shows.)

This is a J.C. Penney model 6217 reel to reel tape recorder from the early '70s. All it says on the back is "made in Japan," possibly by Sony, I'm not sure. This was the first reel to reel that I ever owned... if you don't count a cassette player as a reel to reel machine. It had two speakers but was not a stereo. It played monaural out of both speakers which were built into the sides of the machine. A nice little reel to reel machine for a young man like me who didn't have a lot of $$$. Lightweight, with a protective cover, it got the job done rather nicely. I worked as a radio announcer when I owned his and it was super easy to record all my own music onto reels using the station’s equipment. Quite a fringe benefit!

here at age 17 (her studio says 16), had her first pin-up photo shot taken. This was taken right after she was in HOLIDAY IN MEXICO in 1946. (PLOT "Ambassador Jeffrey Evans (Walter Pidgeon), a widower living in Mexico, has his hands full with his teenage daughter Christine (Jane Powell). Christine runs the entire household and tries to manage her father's private life as well. But love threatens to wreck all her carefully made plans: an earnest young classmate (Roddy McDowall) is hopelessly in love with her. . .Ambassador Evans is smitten with a beautiful singer (Ilona Massey). . .and poor Christine isn't sure where she fits in anymore! Top top it all off, Christine develops a crush on famed pianist Jose Iturbi, who is much older than she."
TRIVIA: One of several films in which a young Fidel Castro appears as an extra, mostly in crowd scenes.

October 6th marks the first televised appearance of American Bandstand. I found some interesting trivia concerning the show. It was customary on AB to have Clark perform a mini-interview with the guest band members. Clark says the most difficult interview he performed was with Prince, an unknown at the time of his appearance. Prince was unresponsive and would generally answer his questions with only a hand gesture or a single word. Clark in fact asked Prince how many instruments he played, Prince responded with, "A thousand."
Another famous mini-interview Clark is famous for is one with Madonna, who, when asked what she would like to do 20 years from now, answered coyly, "To rule the world!"
B.B. King and Jerry Lee Lewis were the only recording artists to actually sing on the program. They were uncomfortable with miming their performances and requested that they just perform the songs live on the set. In 1961, Tony Orlando performed his then-hit song "Bless You" with his trousers zipper open!

I LOVE this vintage Cola ad!! The copy says:
"Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and 'fitting in' during those awkward pre-teen and teen years."
